Noob here, another quick question ❤️
Hi all. Been watching YT videos and reading a lot of posts. I feel like I got the basics of elements down, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out why my level 20 traveler with the Sword of Descension couldn't kill level 10 pyro slimes in the Kaeya/Arcadian Ruins dungeon. It kept saying 'Immune' and dealing no damage (though one was killed somehow). I only managed to finish because it said the enemies timed out so it still counted 🤷🏻♀️
Pyro is only immune to pyro so what gives?

Why were you only using the Traveler? You could have also been using Kaeya or Lisa or someone to get a good reaction going...
When you swirl with anemo, the "swirl" effect basically also affects enemies in the area with whatever element you're swirling. So if you attack a pyro slime with an anemo attack, the attack also "swirls" the pyro around. While the enemo attack can do some damage, the "swirling" pyro will do no damage to the other pyro slimes because you're just blowing more pyro at them.
If it helps, there is a Domain (Temple of the Lion, it's the one where you went to do Lisa's quest) that has a bunch of different trials showing you how the different basic reactions work.
When you see only "immune" and no damage numbers at all, that means that you aren't doing any damage at all. As for Anemo damage itself, raw Anemo damage still does damage to Pyro, but the reaction (Swirl) just won't do any damage if the enemy is immune to Pyro, in this instance.
As it is though, as early as you are, it's best to just throw random elements together. Pyro enemies like Slimes are *especially* weak to Cryo and Hydro attacks though.

Divide it in two parts - one for the 'simple' reactions with PHEC elements, and one for the other 3 with Swirl, Crystalize and the Dendro group.
Not wind tho, that can't kill Pyro slime...
Fyi Anemo + Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo will do a Swirl reaction that does damage with the same element as what the Anemo attack came in contact with. So you'd be doing a bit of Pyro damage on a Pyro slime that's immune to Pyro damage.
Physical attacks can still do damage to slimes so that should be fine for now. If there's more than one element to Swirl like Cryo and Pyro, then you'd be able to damage slimes with Swirl.
If you ever get the chance, use Anemo Traveler's skill or burst when there are different element slimes grouped in front of you, it's fun and colourful.
Is this correct? Did I figure it out?
A lot of anemo characters, including anemo traveller, have the ability to “infuse” their skills with pyro, hydro, electro and cryo, which basically just means they start dealing that type of damage instead of anemo
So your skill would’ve been dealing pyro damage, and the pyro slimes *are* immune to that.
In the kaeya dungeon the game was trying to get you to swap to him, since his cryo skills will do 2x the damage whenever they apply cryo to an enemy with a pyro aura
Prototype Rancour is given free from reaching AR10 and you get refunded the materials for ascending it so it is basically free to upgrade. It is not the best sword out there but it has good Base ATK and you can put it on another sword user like Traveler.
