Mondstadt through Sumeru, as well as Natlan (which is its own game with all the different tribes) are classic total war experiences with typical sword, shield, spear and archer units.
Fontaine plays like Total War Empire or Napoleon, with musket line troops and robot artillery pieces.
Shneznaya probably plays like either the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 40,000 game or the Dawn of War series with its swarms of line troopers, tactically specialized supersoldiers and possession of mechs and actual vehicles.

Or just TWW, since Warhammer fantasy has all of those in it and is somehow not terribly unbalanced lol. Snez might be similar to chaos dwarfs who field gun melee infantry.
I do particularly like the way TWW balances guns vs bows too.

Yeap. That would be so sick. Imagine each unit has their designated elements. The melee anvil is Hydro, then Electro archers firing into the enemy unit, then a Pyro cavalry hammers with a rear charge or something. Elemental mayhem.

This would totally work as a total war game:
Mondstat - Blessing of the Anemo Archon - Units are protected from lightning and frost storms and have 25 percent movement speed boost.
Liyue - Protection of the Geo Archon - All Units when attacked by enemy units are immediately covered with walls. (Siege)
Inazuma - Wrath of the Electro Archon - The faction can send lightning storms to enemy units within their own territory.
Sumeru - Irminsul\`s Insight - The faction can periodically reveal enemy troop movements, planned attacks, or production queues.
Fontaine - Hydro Dragon\`s Might - all naval battles unless faced with enemies\` Archon are won within Fontainian territory.
Natlan - Ode of Resurrection - Grants blessing to an army to immediately replenish all soliders (Does not work with newly recruited units)
Snezhnaya - Harbingers - This special faction shall have 9 special generals and can command special troops.
