Thoughts on Alternate Sprint

It was one of my favorite things in the game in my early days of playing and I wondered why the devs stop implementing them to other elements after giving each to Mona and Ayaka.

But then again, the original purpose probably is to have a character be able to traverse bodies of waters easily so Hydro and Cryo are the best candidates for this ability. Still, I wish we have a representative from each elements who has the ability to alternate sprint. Would be cool to have them even if just for aesthetics.

i wish we could turn them off. ayaka's alternate sprint annoyed the hell out of me back in 2021. at one point they buffed it so she doesnt get stuck easily, right when nobody was using her anymore

If you wanted to walk on water without a cryo character, you needed Mona. during my day before Ayaka came out.

During my time, I didn’t have Ayaka or Mona, so I just Kaeya bridged all day. i even tried to go to inazuma by using it, but i could since i did the raiden shogun quest.

devs stop alternate sprint because it slows the dodging mechanic compare to normal sprint

I love it. I've played a lot of Ayaka, and that alternate sprint is one of my favorite things about playing her. So smooth and fast and convenient, plus just looks awesome. I remember showing a friend Genshin and when they tried it out the one thing they wanted from the team was to have the character with the fast disappearing sprint.

Over the years I've heard from a lot of players on Reddit who really hate it, though.

I love it and Ayaka was my main for years, until we got better traversal. I feel like dodging was also way easier with Ayaka because it´s like having a few cheat-i-frames.

I pulled hu tao just for her sprint. Turned out it doesn't really do anything but still.

Yeah, since Mona, Ayaka (and kind of Hu Tao) nothing really happened there... Another thing I miss is the bell jinglin sound Mona and Xianling used to have when walking, they were just straight-up removed one day. Only for Nahida to have a whole-ass tune a version later

It's kinda useless now that Furina exists, so all it really does is get in the way

It should have been smooth and a lot faster than actual sprinting when using to dodge.

But the animations that are impossible to cancel make it harder than it needs to be.

alternative sprint makes iframe dodging quite tricky compared to regular dodging and while it's cool for waterwalking purposes, it doesn't translate too well with the rest of exploration.

It's pretty. Not incredibly useful but it is slightly more practical than normal characters since you can sprint over water and it's a bit faster than most normal sprints for their height model.

I'm not a fan of alternate sprints for only one reason, they don't play well with dash jumping. Other than that one thing, they're great. If they made it so you could jump out out of that alternate sprint, I would want everyone to have one.
