Twins lore isn't retcon, it is unreliable narration
The spaceship is NOT a retcon. The twins falling from the sky like two shooting stars is ALSO NOT a retcon. Everyone in this story is an unreliable narrator.
*“O Almighty Sovereign, the Universitas Magistrorum has provided the predictions you requested: The two stars have been captured by the world’s gravity… After a lengthy orbital period, today their paths shall intertwine once more.”*
Because WHAT DO YOU MEAN TWO STARS?
If they were talking about BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER inside the SAME SPACESHIP, then WHY THE HECK is there an ORBITAL PERIOD where their PATHS need to CROSS? If they were already together, their paths wouldn’t need to “intertwine once more.”
And this is PRE-CATACLYSM, BEFORE the Abyss sibling was taken by Khaenri’ah.
*“The heavens responded to the summoning.”*
WHY THE HECK IS THE “HEAVENS” RESPONDING TO A SUMMONING? HP WAS FULLY AWAKE AT THAT TIME BTW
Let’s assume Khaenri’ah had access to the TRUE SKY, considering Dainsleif and Vedrfolnir loved stargazing together. But the prediction came from the Universitas Magistrorum, NOT Vedrfolnir, who sits in a higher court.
And how do predictions usually work in Genshin? ASTROLOGY.
So it makes WAY more sense that they drew this prediction from ACTUAL STARS. Because if they were reading the FAKE SKY made by the HEAVENLY PRINCIPLES, that would be WAY MORE DUCKED UP.
AND WHY THE HELL DOES THE ABYSS SIBLING LOSE THEIR MEMORY WHEN SUMMONED INTO KHAENRI’AH?
LOSS OF MEMORY = DEATH BTW
So HOW THE HECK did the Abyss sibling “DIE” when they were SUPPOSED to be HIBERNATING IN THE SAME SPACESHIP AS THE TRAVELER?
AND AGAIN, WHY IS THE “HEAVENS” RESPONDING, WHEN THEIR SPACESHIP WAS LITERALLY LYING ON THE GROUND FOR 500+ YEARS? NOT THE HEAVENS
Unless... let's assume they were SNATCHED MID FALL ofc
BUT EVEN THEN, HOW DID THEY DIE? WHY WOULD THE “HEAVENS RESPONDING” WOULD BE THEM BEING TELEPORTED TO A DIFFERENT NATION DURING MID-FALL?
None of this lines up. Hence, everyone is just unreliable and hiding something.

Lengthy orbital period is fancy word for the passing of years, some things that arent said directly shouldnt be taken word by word. And the sibling didnt forget about the mc, they just didnt know where the spaceship was. The issue about why she was outside of the chamber is brought up as a question by mc, which means its sth we will eventually learn.
?
Was she ever supposed to be an eldritch horror, or was this something the community made up?
Hoyo tries to give a certain impression, then abruptly abandons it: "They never promised you anything, you made it up"
I guess the best storytelling is achieved when nothing is signalled and everything is spelled out in advance. If only 99% of famous writers knew.
I was really hoping you could infer that from the obvious sarcasm
But if you read Wanderer and Arle voice lines. they pretty much translate to "she is so innocent and pure that if she was your enemy, your conscience would not allow you to fight her" and "Bina is a total airhead, ask her anything and she will give you an answer completely unrelated to anything you were talking about"
The "creepy" and "eldrich horror" parts come completely from weird FatuiHQ headcannon that's why they are throwing a tantrum the hardest cause they were proven wrong.
This is honestly becoming a situation where people will stop using the sub since even fluff posts cant get away from these people either crying about their headcannon being wrong, Aether being in any scene, Characters wearing cat ears.
At some point everyone is gonna get sick of trying to talk about the actual lore in-game here cause like you said its just a headache with these people around, and eventually it will end up that this entire place will just be filled with their misinformation with no one here wanting to correct it.
It is called pattern recognition.
When most of the toxicity keeps comes from the same groups of people that are criticizing every female character cause they just want husbando constantly, attacking Aether/Lumine cause they literally hate the MC, crying when they realize they are not the target audience so they try to be as annoying as possible in their tantrum, crying about retcons cause they have never read a single line of text in the game while throwing a tantrum they want a skip button. Then after awhile it kinda becomes an immediate assumption when you see those talking points from people.
Like how many things do some of these people need to hate and complain about in the game, before finally realizing that perhaps the devs have never catered and will never cater to them?
This is like someone that hates FPS games keep playing an FPS game and bitching about it, cause they are sure the devs will listen to this 1 single lonely player and change their entire game to be a hack and slash action.
Which is not always good. In fact, look up Apophenia and Paranoid Schizophrenia.
You are just primed against people who criticise a certain thing, and lumping them together with other people helps you cope with that. At least don't be so brazen about it.
Devs recently revealed it takes approximately 2 or less year for a longer patch to be created. When winter night's lazzo and Sumeru were released, the devs were already on Natlan and Nod Krai
It is very likely that their visions for unreleased locations, stories and characters change over time even if slightly, than to assume that they are adding unreasonable amount of work load for no benefit and restricting themselves as a result of that.
Also, you can make vague foreshadowing without a clear-cut outcome, and then build an outcome that doesn't invalidate the foreshadowing. Most notorious examples of this are stories that are not released in chronological order, but there is no reason to not do this on any lengthy on-going story.
Sure they probably iron out the actual Archon Quests and such, but this was more in response to the "Columbina was rewritten" statement. I mean in the A Winter's Night Lazzo we first saw Columbina, we have Dottore burning Irminsul, which has already been confirmed to be part of a future story.
This is achieved by keeping things fluid for long-term and having to meet the least amount of predetermined, unchanging elements as possible. It is the opposite of how you think it is done.
A 1.x artifact domain description hinted Tsurumi Island's thunderbird in great detail. We had people from Sumeru, Fontaine etc. in Mondstadt. We had names of things to come in those patches quoted in advance.
No content before Natlan hinted at anything in Natlan with any tangible detail. Direct references were just a few NPC lines about hot springs. Zero Natlan NPC's existed outside Natlan before its release. This let them explore whatever they wanted to explore without any limitations, and provide lore reasons to existing questions (like why there are no Natlan people outside Natlan) however they see fit. Did they have small self-contained stories planned out like Bennett's origin story, Mare Jivari or Capitano's quest? Probably. Did they also come up with the aesthetics, names, the decision to make dragon tech look like what it is now, etc. way after the original roadmap? Without a doubt. If you look at leaks on Mavuika's models, you will see drastic shifts and it will tell you that the whole bike situation was not their first or second idea. Nod-Krai is in the exact same spot. They are just very late additions, and coincidentally a lot of artistic and tonal shifts, model changes and QoL changes occured during those additions.
For them to acknowledge Nod Krai exists as a means for them to catch us up on the lore we should've been told earlier, it really only makes sense for Nod Krai in its current form and purpose to come about during this time, when they can see they're not giving us info fast enough to explain their plans for endgame. So around when Fontaine's main story had already been finalized, so at earliest, the Sumeru cycle.
That's why the decision to expand Nod-Krai, imo seems to be a summer of 2022 thing, around when the Lazzo teaser came out.
Not the actual development per se but the decision to make Nod-Krai a seperate entity from Snezhnaya would have needed to be made fairly early.
And I'd say, during Sumeru cycle at the earliest.
Especially when you have the devs actively acknowledging that the Luna cycle of updates is them course correcting how they're handling the lore. Which very much means, there was a change of plan somewhere in the pipeline.
And on top of that, that doesn't acknowledge that the 2 years of work, also means everything that came before of it was also worked on in advance. Lazzo and that concept of the Harbingers would've been put in place long before the trailer came out, which means even longer before Nod Krai even entered its concept phase.
It is a similar situation to Maelle in E33, twin woke up in Kheanriya with no memories, lived there as if it was their home. This is why they consider it their homeland similar to how Maelle even after recovering her memories considered Lumiere and the people her home and Family.
When twin finally regained memories they went looking for the spaceship and traveler but could not find them. During the cataclysm they found out where the space ship is due to the key, and they chose to go to the traveler instead of protecting kheanriya.
The reason the twin formed the abyss order is cause they feel guilty about abandoning their "homeland" to its fate.
Also anyone who thinks Columbina is a retcon is delusional
if you can read wanderers voice line about her as anything other than "she is so innocent and pure that if she was your enemy, your conscience would not allow you to fight her"
and Arle voice line as anything other than "Bina is a total airhead, ask her anything and she will give you an answer completely unrelated to anything you were talking about"
You are so lost to headacannon and that would explain why you were so lost in fanfic you even missed the twin giving us the reason why they consider Kheanriya their home.
If this is true, it is worse than a retcon. Stuff like that diminishes the value of the entire story just for some stupid twist at the end. It is like the "clever ending" a 8 year old comes up with.
That said, there are movie masterpieces that reveal at the end a massive allegory that paints the entirety of the movie in a different light, but Genshin storytelling is hardly of that quality despite having a deep background lore. For an anime game written to be accessible to toddlers it is just going to be a stupid, self-sabotaging nuke if they went with "everyone lied or was misinformed"
He would have never called it a meteor, as he would have *absolutely* known it were a Spaceship.
It's a Retcon.
so yea makes sense that a person that knows noting about spaceships calls a thing falling from the sky that he never sees up-close a meteor. you will be shocked when you find out uncontacted tribes don't call airplanes "airplanes".
I've seen people say the same thing about the lore and story of the Destiny franchise. People are doing it right now with... *gestures broadly at Season 5 of Stranger Things*
Retcon is often conflated with "plot hole" and that isn't the case. They're not synonymous. You can write retcons without breaking your own canon or creating plot holes. An extremely common way to do this is with unreliable narrators (bonus points if said narrators were not unreliable from the get-go, tipping off the audience that things weren't planned and that the story can't be trusted anymore).
I understand that people really want to dive into their fiction, but at the end of the day, everything that happens in a story comes from its creators, and those creators *cannot* plan for everything. Retcons will happen in the life cycle of serialized/ongoing media. It's fine as long as it's done well.
