I remember just placing Zhongli pillar next to some of the cube puzzles and it would eventually solve itself lol.
Managlyph2026-01-11 23:46
The fun part is grabbing some pen and paper and figuring out how the puzzle works and getting super satisfied when you finally solve it.
SecondAegis2026-01-12 01:41
I was part of the "random bullshit go" camp, and it was still pretty fun doing that
Various_Bit91892026-01-12 04:25
I mean it would be less interesting if you just didn’t do it yeah
SanicHegehag2026-01-11 23:41
Inazuma had the best puzzles and Dragonspine + The Sumeru Desert (pre underground map) had the best exploration.
It was nice having to activate 3 braincells or explore with some urgency.
shekurika2026-01-11 23:49
yeah rly miss inazumas puzzles. theyre way too easy now
Lord_Kumatetsu2026-01-12 00:43
2.8 GAA had the best puzzles 🥀
ClashMasterJH2026-01-12 00:47
Seconded
100RatsInASack2026-01-12 01:51
There's some Goated event areas that I'm sad new players don't get to experience anymore.
Like the whole time I was doing Paralogism and Durin's story quest, I was thinking, "Damn, this must be really confusing if you didn't play when Simulanka was out." 2.8 GAA had some of the best storylines and puzzles in Genshin, too
lysithea0032026-01-12 05:35
As someone who just got back from a years long hiatus, I was very confused
Lign_Grant2026-01-12 03:05
And it has "die mittsommernacht-fantasie"
frakkingtoaster2026-01-12 06:03
I want to go back so bad 💔
Dylangillian2026-01-12 06:44
And somehow people complained about too much stuff to do in 2.8 alongside the puzzles and due to that we stopped getting actually interesting puzzles.
Rex_Lapis_2026-01-12 00:47
Nah fuck sumeru underground pre map it was annoying af
Powerful_Wombat2026-01-12 03:37
Agreed and people bitched it was too hard and now everything is super straight forward and simple, sucks
Anhedonia2022026-01-12 04:46
Absolutely agree, and honorable mention to the Mona island puzzles in GAA 2
Ordinarypanic2026-01-11 23:47
Eehhh, I definitely don’t miss this particular one or the point the arrow in the right direction puzzles.
TinjimanGaming2026-01-11 23:50
My dumbass just popped furina skill and waited
Kay-Chelle2026-01-12 01:12
I did this with Yae Miko when she first came out! You set up her turrets and then wait. My ADHD could never be patient enough for these puzzles. 🙈
the_spirit_of_fire2026-01-11 23:55
Me too, Inazuma exploration is my favourite.
Nightfall_aggro2026-01-12 00:08
A fed posted this cuz ain't no way anybody liked inazuma puzzles😭
m2gus2026-01-12 00:34
yea i'm a fed (up with brainlesness of puzzles post sumeru)
Dyzinel2026-01-12 00:13
This one was so iconic. Took a long while of randomly hitting stuff.
GettingWokeUp2026-01-12 04:04
Three or four times too, it would change each time you returned
EHHitsboring2026-01-12 12:14
This specific one I actually had to use my brain and read the clue carefully, got too impatient of just brute forcing it. Felt proud of myself for figuring it out LOL
Kayden_Rayzel2026-01-12 14:03
I was the type to use Zhongli's pillar to hit continously multiple ones and hit others at the same time with weapon
BleedingUranium2026-01-13 00:39
I, for one, am incredibly happy that I did Inazuma well after it released (last year) and as such [the interactive map has solutions for basically everything](https://act.hoyolab.com/ys/app/interactive-map/index.html?lang=en-us). Especially this one. :P
DeadMemeDatBoi2026-01-12 00:23
You cannot stop the ensloppification of the overworld for the sake of the chud poobrains whod rather whine about it in feedback rather than put in the effort
kokko6932026-01-12 00:23
What I don't like in Genshin puzzles is that you get 1 msg from system explaining the exploration mechanic, then it's forever gone. Sometimes there are puzzles with multiple mechanics, or a mechanic that's used in an unexpected way.
So the problem is that if you don't do the puzzles when you finds them, you lose a lot of time trying to find how that mechanic works again.
And it's not even hard puzzles. You just don't know how to use the pieces, that's not even the puzzle yet.
I would like a system when you go near a puzzle, that explain how the mechanic works again. It gives you the choice, if you want, to go in the corresponding codex entry so that you know how to use the pieces again.
When I explore I usually go for all the teleporters, then I kill all the monsters in the way, take the easy chests, and in the end I do puzzles... I don't want to do puzzles every 10m I go ..
cavatira2026-01-12 01:03
on PC you can just press G and you'll get the location relevant tutorials. you can also go through main menu
neohybridkai2026-01-12 01:26
There is a menu to look at the message, the dev event update it now that it will show the relevant guide for the area you're currently at. Before this you need to scroll down and search by yourself because the system automatically put the message you have seen at the bottom
Radiant_Ad_28552026-01-12 00:30
this specific one had me going back there like 3 times for 3 different chests or smth. hated every single part of it
Dokrabackchod2026-01-12 00:34
I hated Inazuma puzzles, it wasn't hard but annoying af, sure these stone turner was good one but those turning electric pointer towards electric source was pain, especially seelie ones, i still haven't done wakatsumi island seelie puzzle because of how annoying it was and the worst part about Inazuma is that it only gives common chest for these puzzles
pawgchamp4202026-01-12 00:42
Loved inazuma puzzles, but i agree the electro seelies were bad. Way to easy to just lose track of a seelie, they change direction too fast.
EmPudding2026-01-12 10:13
Annoying is precisely how I'd describe them
ClashMasterJH2026-01-12 00:46
Yeah i do really miss when puzzles were actual puzzles and didnt rely on whatever gimmick that region had
armyofonetaco2026-01-12 04:24
The puzzles in Inazuma literally relied on either electro or that bird thing.
Slight_Owl23262026-01-12 07:21
Which puzzles required electro? Ive 100% the inazuma zones twice, and I dont remember more than a few outside the world quest for Tsurumi island. Most were hitting those boxes to right order, getting sequences right on those corrupt trees, having electro debuff from stones right next to the puzzle, or just activating the random flowers to fly high up.
ClashMasterJH2026-01-12 08:16
What he said
M1dor12026-01-12 11:15
Also all puzzles in genshin are set up in a way that you can complete them with traveler in the regions element and/or the free chars (amber, kaeya, lisa, collei) you get for just playing without doing any wishes
Slight_Owl23262026-01-12 14:50
Even with that though, I really hated sumeru region because having to swap constantly to dendro character.
LibraProtocol2026-01-12 18:37
This. Especially puzzles that require both Electro and Dendro… those got annoying fast when I am trying to explore with my Geo Team >.>
imbusthul2026-01-12 01:03
2.X had the best puzzles. To bad babies complained too much and babified it for future puzzles.
Disturbing_Cheeto2026-01-12 01:09
They don't even have elemental puzzles anymore. They had one in Natlan and they literally panned the camera to the solution.
sacredfire5112026-01-12 01:26
Sigh I miss these
karillith2026-01-12 12:25
Please understand changing your team is horrible and I lose one month of lifespan each time due to the trauma.
RBLakshya2026-01-12 06:25
I do think genshin had much better puzzle out of other hoyo games or even comparing to Wuwa, the current ones with kuhenki and all are fine, but I miss those ones with the sakura symbols and the electric barriers in inazuma, or the stuff you had to solve in the sheere cold of dragonspine. Even the Chenyu vail one were honestly fun I guess for recent at least
Rayyan_32412026-01-12 07:51
Problem is people don’t wanna spend time tryna figure out a puzzle, they just want the rewards and the 100% progress
karillith2026-01-12 11:13
At this point i'd wish Hoyo realize that those people don't like exploration anyway so even if they simplify it they won't be happy so they could at least make it enjoyable for those who like it (insert rant bout how the new compass is killing revisiting Nod Krai areas).
But apparently the Neanderthals and sweaty combat dudes are the ones with money and Hoyo will follow money.
SoloWaltz2026-01-12 11:32
> Problem is people don’t wanna spend time tryna figure out a puzzle, they just want the rewards and the 100% progress
50/50
It's a cursed design caused by gacha and the way theyre designed. It's not just the puzzles - we dont get open air dungeons like the ruins in Narukami island that have you lower the water level to explore further. Action pieces are relegated to domains so they can keep you from climbing around.
Werewolf-49802026-01-12 10:50
Tbh zzz didnt had a lot of puzzles. For wuwa they were fun but felt more like mini games rather than puzzles. I really liked genshin's, especially inazuma, i liked how many of them blend in the environment and you had to be actively looking for them to notice them.
RBLakshya2026-01-12 10:52
I mean from event, there’s the TV mode which was decent but it was very straight forward 99% of the time. While it lasted at least. Also, looking back a comment, I forgot the peak, Enkanomiya’s day night puzzles and the event exclusive Enkanomiya
Werewolf-49802026-01-12 10:55
Oh yea that must be why, my bad. I quit at first zzz because the tv mode was making me feel dizzy(too much effects). I then re joined right after they removed them
FlinsFantasticFanny2026-01-12 01:09
My dumbass sure doesn't lol. But if other players wanted more I wouldn't mind. As long I can bring out my Miko to make them work
Sydde2026-01-12 01:11
I really got a migraine after finishing Inazuma 100%
victreebe12026-01-12 01:16
I love enjoying the game, so I only loved Chenyu Vale.
TheMrPotMask2026-01-12 01:18
Ah, the cardinal puzzle, notoriously known for being bullshit difficult untill tons of solutions dropped on yt and also showed you didnt have to wait a real day between each puzzle, just teleport away and back.
RevolutionaryAd70362026-01-12 01:35
How does the numbers on the second picture solve the puzzle 💀 I'm dumb
Traditional_Elk20462026-01-12 02:54
The game wants you to build a magic square, basically each line of 3 numbers has to add to the same number.
For a 3x3 square the only way to do this is to put 5 in the middle and making the lines add up to 15. Knowing these rules the puzzle is easy to solve starting from the numbers that are stuck in place
ai_yuu_72026-01-12 01:53
I'm fairly sure i haven't completed most of them...
Especially those electro arrow ones
Professional_Pop43552026-01-12 01:55
I just used to zhongli them lol
thisisthemanager2026-01-12 01:56
Yeah but F that one in particular
Perceval-212026-01-12 01:57
Yeah now everything is easy
dpyro222026-01-12 02:02
I started genshin during 4.2 and binge playing all the content from montstadt to fontaine really sends home just how peak Inazuma puzzles and overworld was in comparison to anything that came before or after.
KnightOfArsford2026-01-12 02:08
The puzzles would have been fine if the rewards were proportional to the effort it took to solve them. You do all these difficult puzzles and all you get is a lousy common chest.
Lorellya2026-01-12 02:33
Cry all yall brain-turned-off want, these were the best puzzles this game ever had.
Evening_Parking26102026-01-12 02:40
I just hated the ones where you had to point the arrows with the electrograna becuase itd always would just turn into a different direction when i tried to lesve it pissed me off so much
karillith2026-01-12 11:11
That point of the game when Beidou was meta for exploration lmao.
P20702026-01-12 02:45
Sometimes if I AOE'd the entire puzzle, it would just auto complete.
Traditional_Elk20462026-01-12 02:48
That's my favorite puzzle in the game, I surely wasn't expecting the game asking me to make a magic square
Disturbing_Cheeto2026-01-12 03:07
Apparently a lot of people didn't know what that was, which I guess I guess I can't blame them, since unless someone showed it to you, why would you know it?
Traditional_Elk20462026-01-12 03:19
Obviously it's not common knowledge and if you don't know what a magic square is solving it needs a lot of trial and error and I can see why it becomes frustrating.
But I knew the theory behind it and finding one in the game was honestly very nice
azaleapom2026-01-12 12:42
I mean, I didn’t know what a magic square was but that’s what the notes are there for, to help you figure it out. Maybe the way it was written was hard to understand
AbidingTruth2026-01-12 17:16
I didn't know what a magic square was, but the instructions next to the puzzle were clear enough that I knew I had to solve a series of equations
x3bla2026-01-12 02:49
Man i want puzzles back
Hopeful-Sky71992026-01-12 02:49
I still don't get this puzzle, I brute forced it and that makes me sad, cause I normally really like solving puzzles but I just couldn't understand this one.
X3m9X2026-01-12 03:11
same, this one is abit wack.
isharetoomuch2026-01-12 03:24
it was basically sudoku. Every "line" needed to add up to 15, if I remember correctly. the notes in the backpack nearby told you the numbers, 1 through 9
ComfortableTraffic122026-01-12 10:16
That's not sudoku though. This is the first time I'm hearing about things adding up to 15, I'll try that at some point. People always told me it was sudoku and that confused me because sudoku has multiple large squares. This puzzle is just one square.
Princess_Moe2026-01-12 12:19
it's actually magic square
Slight_Owl23262026-01-12 07:24
north 1 east 2 south 3 west 4. If there is a slab on top its +5. So yes its just sudoku where you find the first line thats possible only one way, and you work you way from there.
Pop-girlies2026-01-12 02:56
the seelie ones were lowkey annoying though I wont lie. Like where tf did it go to 😭😭
Viscaz2026-01-12 02:59
Also no “You need a fire, character, a wind character, a hydro character and a bow character, a claymore character all in the same team :)” bs for the overworld.
Richboyjoel2026-01-12 03:06
Not me. Those stupid ass puzzles was why inazuma absolutely sucked for me and is my least liked nation
Serpens1362026-01-12 03:07
After that hoyo realized how many percent of players are brain-dead and deleted all puzzle designs. The only design left is the "click T button" puzzle
r0ksas2026-01-12 03:09
I dont miss that one particularly in your pic... But I do miss the exploration and the challenge... Inazuma is the first difficulty tweak we have at the time since genshin is so well known to be pretty casual before 2.0
Aerinn_May2026-01-12 03:14
There are good puzzles in Inazuma and there are also fcking awful ones.
You have ones like these that simply require you to think, but there are many others that are a waste of time. You cannot tell me that that one probe puzzle in Watatsumi is good design.
This is coming from someone who is 100%-ing Inazuma right now. I appreciate the thought in some of them, but there are A LOT that make it miserable. I can see why they turned the difficulty down in some of them, if I was a casual player who opens the game only every so often, I wouldn't bother.
azaleapom2026-01-12 12:46
I get that maybe Inazuma as a whole was too difficult for the casual player but I wish Hoyo would add a few difficult puzzles into the open world. Not enough to block map 100% because then people can ignore it if they want. But exploration is literally braindead right now
shaqkage2026-01-12 03:18
I do prefer more puzzles but these ones weren't it imo
I don't think a puzzle is good when you gotta get a whole ass external resource(in this case a piece of paper) to solve it.
TengokuBloom2026-01-12 03:20
I used Yae Miko's foxes for this. I just stood there for 5 minutes and let randomness solve it for me
SleeplessSeas2026-01-12 03:21
If I wanted to pull out a piece of paper to solve the puzzle, I'd go retake a math class or something. I personally never found any of these puzzles fun, and I'm genuinely glad they're gone lmao.
shiny_opal2026-01-12 03:24
i had to bring out notepad to do that 3x3 rotating blocks one it feels so long ago now
narukamishrine2026-01-12 03:24
yt was my best friend during this time i couldn't be bothered to figure them out on my own lmao just give me the primos!
RomeKaijuBlue2026-01-12 03:25
I've been playing through the game again on an alt, and I gotta say Inazuma felt very refreshing after Nod Krai. The amount of handholding in NK is ridiculous, meanwhile some things like the Sakura Cleansing Ritual questline leave at least a BIT of the detective work to you, even if it's nothing crazy. They really just decided to make the game even easier for no reason, it's like there's zero friction these days aside from endgame modes.
Mind you I love Natlan which isn't exactly a difficult region either, but when you see the contrast with Inazuma it does feel egregious how simple things have become
ZenTen_2026-01-12 03:53
Nah get some help I'm currently exploring Inazuma each time I'm going crazy for that common chest which took my sanity
Gold-And-Cheese2026-01-12 03:59
Yup. I've said it before and I'll say it again - we need the Inazuma-level puzzles back.
Hierophant_cryo2026-01-12 04:01
Did I enjoy Inazuma and its ridiculously hard puzzles when the region was released? Yes. Will I do it all over again on my side account? Heck no.
-Red02-2026-01-12 04:13
Ngl, I didn't enjoy that one, but I'd rather do that puzzle again randomly than doing 3 world quest, 1 archon quest, find the 12 keys, talk to John for 15min and finally being able to open the chest.
fuminghung2026-01-12 04:15
Puzzle that you just put zhongli pillar in the middle and solves itself?
armyofonetaco2026-01-12 04:23
Inazuma puzzles made me pull my hair out. They are still sitting there because idc
MiserableOpinion16102026-01-12 04:24
Wait was stuck on this puzzle and had given up on it a few months ago after dozens of tries. I was doing the enkanomiya quest when I stumbled across it. If u could send me the location would be super helpful
l__iva__l2026-01-12 04:37
i solved most of them using math (modular equations), but sometimes i was too lazy and just did the "random-shit-letsgo" technique
had a lot of fun, i miss it too
lawlianne2026-01-12 04:54
This is why I pull characters like Yae.
RemoteDifficult65762026-01-12 05:02
Yea all those for a common chest 🥀🥀
MxniaOffline2026-01-12 05:03
Yall smarter than me I would just spam skills until the chest unlocked 😭
kronpas2026-01-12 05:11
The downsize is that a sizeable portion of the community straight up skipped those hard puzzles. Its one thing you sought/bought a puzzle game specifically, its another matter if you are stuck at a combat/expolration game's puzzles.
leakmydata2026-01-12 05:15
I miss puzzles that aren’t clearly designed so that you will accidentally solve them even if you have no idea what the solution is.
AdministrativeShip22026-01-12 05:24
That's what really annoyed me about Nod Krai moon mirrors.
I was excited to see actual puzzles, thinking we'd need to find a combination. and then disappointed when it literally was hit T to solve.
Poppindestruction2026-01-12 05:16
Yeah, but not this one in specific lol. I had to look up the answer for this one and still did not understand the logic.
alonedead2026-01-12 05:27
Everytime I go to interactive map (not the offical one) just to check if I miss anything I check some puzzles and their comment section. It shows me how much people really dont want hard puzzles in this game.
Not only hard puzzles, just dosent want any hardship at all. There was one run and collect particle challange in Inazuma which was actually scaras in time and you need to map out the way couple of times. Comments on that particular challange shown me how much of a cry baby and lazy the community are.
Aromatic-Metal32992026-01-12 05:28
Allat for a common chest broke ahh country
Mean-Razzmatazz15542026-01-12 05:51
Id rather leave inazuma unexplored than ever explore it on my new account
AdNarrow48882026-01-12 06:09
miss pulling out my yae for a common chest
Dusty_Buss2026-01-12 06:38
I hated Inazuma puzzles
Charlesiaw2026-01-12 07:06
mavuika solve these in 5 seconds
PracticingMaggotry2026-01-12 07:50
Enkanomiya puzzles still make my brain hurt in a good way. Makes exploration and the chest give more dopamine.
UsedNapkin12026-01-12 08:47
I liked the complexity of inazuma puzzles but I felt like this was also the stingiest region reward-wise. So many common chests with 1 electro sigil.
RegularTemporary27072026-01-12 09:46
You guys does the puzzle ? I just hit randomly until it works out
LightningLord21372026-01-12 10:18
AND I DON'T
Dark_Reaper_18182026-01-12 10:20
The reason they don't give us these types of puzzles is because lot of players complained about it
we_are_Plural2026-01-12 10:23
Xiangling burst cheesed them
i_gotsickofthinking2026-01-12 10:54
They were so fun :((
Mazza_mistake2026-01-12 11:01
I never had a plan for these, I just randomly hit things until it worked
Ok_Writing_74462026-01-12 11:21
I sure like puzzles, but I really don’t like these cubes🥲
ExaminationCandid2026-01-12 15:18
They realized people are just too stupid to solve these so they stopped doing this anymore.
LaggerKnight2026-01-12 15:18
Man I remember this one. Had to write down the numbers too, which was actually pretty fun. They really should do more head-scratcher puzzles like this.
anarchy7532026-01-12 15:20
I miss puzzles full stop. Now it's just "press the button to ride the grind rail with you hands off the controls, you did it, here's a chest"
tiagoremixv32026-01-12 15:28
I do miss hitting E three times with Yae and having the puzzles solve themselves. Good old days.
Ghostdriver8862026-01-12 15:41
Shit, still haven’t solve this one after like, 5-6 years? Forgot it existed.
Laithoron2026-01-12 15:52
I suppose for puzzle-lovers it was paradise, but being someone who doesn't really enjoy puzzles (I feel like I have to solve puzzles all day at work) Inazuma was the point where I just threw up my hands and started ignoring them. :-(
Mox_mox_moxed2026-01-12 17:14
Heh.....heh hehehehe....hehehehe
Ok_Air86582026-01-12 18:34
i miss the vibe of old exploration, i remember enconomia release, it was so good, they don't do things like this anymore
BUT i hate that electro puzzle, i spent like 10 hours solving it and then dropped it, there were no guides at that point
Melon7632026-01-12 20:22
I definitly dont miss the one in the photo
gna1492026-01-12 22:00
I miss only SOME of the puzzles. The one where you have to fly back and forth between the islands.. that one can go suck it
Commentaires
I remember just placing Zhongli pillar next to some of the cube puzzles and it would eventually solve itself lol.
It was nice having to activate 3 braincells or explore with some urgency.
Like the whole time I was doing Paralogism and Durin's story quest, I was thinking, "Damn, this must be really confusing if you didn't play when Simulanka was out." 2.8 GAA had some of the best storylines and puzzles in Genshin, too

I don't think a puzzle is good when you gotta get a whole ass external resource(in this case a piece of paper) to solve it.
Mind you I love Natlan which isn't exactly a difficult region either, but when you see the contrast with Inazuma it does feel egregious how simple things have become
had a lot of fun, i miss it too
I was excited to see actual puzzles, thinking we'd need to find a combination. and then disappointed when it literally was hit T to solve.
Not only hard puzzles, just dosent want any hardship at all. There was one run and collect particle challange in Inazuma which was actually scaras in time and you need to map out the way couple of times. Comments on that particular challange shown me how much of a cry baby and lazy the community are.
BUT i hate that electro puzzle, i spent like 10 hours solving it and then dropped it, there were no guides at that point
