Apparently playing the game casually is a problem lol
\-The name I didn't blur out is me so its nor a big deal. Anyway this was under a post on hoyolab about how neuvillette dmg sucks bc he was doing like 45k?
\-I just posted this cuz I kinda found it funny that their response to me saying that people don't have to pull for meta is to compare our stats.
\-I started around 4.0 and for the first year of playing I was getting used to it again after leaving a 1.X account that I sucked at anyway. I was mostly a casual player and started playing just cuz "wow cool new update" so I wasn't really motivated to do much and didn't know how to explore or builds characters. I kinda got lucky and pulled for characters I like and I don't regret it at all.
\-Only around 4.4-4.7 was I actually understanding the game and I think 4.8 I actually shot up from \~68% exploration in monstadt to almost 100%. I still didn't build characters that much (except marcheusse wielders) so I have like no built four stars. Just a few months ago I actually started building characters and recently ascended about 5 chars to lvl 81. I'm completely uninterested in end game content so I usually do the bare minimum, more focused on building my chars since I spent so long neglecting them.
\-Idk why I said all that cuz it's unnecessary but ig I just spilled my "genshin journey" lol. It's just kinda sad when I see people like this that are just assholes to anyone that doesn't pull for meta/same way they do. Sorry for yapping haha

"You are a AR50 player."
"You don’t have the power to tell me to shut up."
"Get on my level first before telling me to shut up"
-thankfully I just did an easy response to them and wished them a goodbye cuz that's just clearly a toxic person
It's basically the sociological equivalent of Mario jumping off someone's head; you're unconsciously trying to raise yourself up by putting people who are different than you down. People who are happy and confident aren't going through people's profiles to dig up dirt on them lol
like i don’t really chase the meta but i go for characters that i like and that fulfills me even if they aren’t like top tier
i’m sorry but i am not learning 500 combos to maximum mavuika donut gameplay
Like guys if you like meta that's good for you if you like to get characters because of their personality and lore good for you. Can we please respect that every player plays the game for a different reason or pulls for a different reason instead of bashing anyone who pulls for meta or characters they like?
If you mean people who don't like meta slaves, then no, that's perfectly normal. There is difference between following meta and being toxic jerk, who constantly posts spam about shilling, powercreep, how unfair and terrible Hoyo and Abyss/Theater/Stygian Onslaught is etc. Following meta is fine. Being meta slaves is stupid and that's the only thing people hate. And deservedly.
I saw people hate others for just liking meta and pulling units according to that.
I saw the opposite where people hate others for pulling units that are weak in meta my point is let people play how they wanna play instead of doing toxic I say this for both sides.
The issue is the casual people who complain about not being able to pass Abyss or Dire SO, or get an Arcanum in IT.
They somehow 'expect' to put in minimal effort and still get all the rewards from endgame. THAT'S what's annoying.
Not sure how that wasn't clear from my comment.
There is a significant segment saying this kind of stuff and not only is it the same people, it's usually in the same comment.
tho i am mostly pulling for columbina even tho she doesn't fit in neither childe or arle teams
is it optimal? no. does it work and use characters you want and like? yes
Unless the discussion was specifically about meta.
until I get c1 lauma
Just use GCSIM if you need to calc team differences.
When she first got announced and shown in the 6.0 AQ, people were going on about how much they loved her design, VA, etc. Nowadays, more than half of the posts are build comparisons/flexing, teambuilding or theorycrafting (I’m guilty of this)
Meaning that, from a neutral point of view at least, the only discussion about pulling plans is alwaysa meta discussion. This is because the other reason to plan your pulls are purely based on personal preferance and are thus not even open to discussion in the first place. You pull for char X because you like him/her? Then why even argue against that point?
One problem that often arises imo is when some people want to combine both worlds and ask: I like playing char X, what would be the best chars to pull to support him/her? And then a lot of people turn the discussion on char X and try to argue about how chars Y and Z are a billion times better.
I've only been pulling for who I wanted for *years* now. My highest invested 5-star is my C2R1 *Baizhu*, lol. I wasn't even able to clear floor 12 of spiral abyss until I got Neuvi and I still want to get more of his cons. But I have fun with the game, and that's what matters to me. I feel like there's this subset of meta players that just get outright offended not everyone cares as much as they do and use 'casual' like an insult. Those people are kind of exhausting.
Not only that, the current funds from getting all Theatre and Abyss rewards is 21600 primos per year, which is substantial but does not even guarantee a single 5\* character. I rather just stop stressing myself out and pick whoever I want.
And I find ways to make my own fun, separate from the endgame. It is kind of the only way to not constantly chase the next new thing and ending up burned-out miserable in the process.
same like AI prompters who call themselves AI "artist"
You're gonna let online whispers from nobodies ruin your fun?
what an ass
It's weird how people care about what characters other people want.
If you're not interested in F12 abyss and Fearless+ SO you can literally pull or build anyone you want. If you do care about meta, like 70-80% of characters in the game cannot even touch endgame (Dire SO, soon to be abyss with 4 Wild Hunts in a single half-chamber).
In the old days you really could just pull or build anyone and make progress towards clearing endgame as you built your account.
I enjoy playing Ganyu with her charged attack, spare me from those rotation comp. Okay, next.
Meanwhile my broke-ass, tryhard, min-maxxing mentality has to keep up with leaks, save pulls, skip meta units because I don't like them, then get frustrated when I can't clear endgame because I can't force myself to pull for units I don't like lol.
type shit.
if i can clear floor 12 period then im happy. the reward of like one pull from those final stars is not worth the amount of effort for me.
like sure, generally i like teams built around my faves to make them hit big number but i will make changes and take dps dip if my fave's bis is a character i dont like
also this guy would probably hate that my kaveh is level 80 and my nilou is 50 (got her on accident pulling for kaveh) and that i pulled lauma for kaveh bloom
Just ignore this kind of person
Columbina will be meta for 3 months and then everyone will forget about her.
Not only that, but in most of the cases they statememts wont even be correct.
He pat his shoulder in the shower later
Bruh there isn't even a single primo to be earned there
Untouched grass.
I skipped Skirk because I didn't like her team.
I'm going to pull Bina because I'm building a Nefer team.
I'd be able to clear Abyss, Lunar mode theater and Stygian IV regardless.
And I got 2 of my Arcanum cards thanks to Neuvilette.
In this case casual players wont really mald endgame anyway so I see no reason to attack them like this unprovoked
TBH I stopped pulling for cons once SO was out, the dps gulf between dire and the next level (fearless something?) is so wide it was pointless to even try, while I can comfortably clear fearless with my non Nodkrai roster.
And after I showed them my stats (36 stars, fearless SO and act 8 on IT) they proceeded to make fun of the fact that i only got to act 8 on IT (I've only been playing for like 9 months so sry if I haven't gotten the time to get 24 characters of specific elements to lvl 70 lol), and that I "barely" managed to beat fearless.
I found their UID and just saw that they've been playing for like 2 years and had worse score than mine in SO. SO yeah, some people are just dumb.
i am quite the meta player, i love making teams, i love doing damage, i love getting all my rewards. i do my dailies everyday and i wait for events to finish and do them all in one afternoon. when im exploring, i explore with the interactive map in order to do it as fast as possible. i like building characters i like optimizing rotations
my sister is kinda the opposite. gets into genshin for 2 days straight, doesnt do anything else other than genshin but will then leave it for 7. she doesnt build her characters that much. she doesnt have very many meta teams. she has a hard time doing proper rotations and she also gets very angry when i try to correct her or tell her how to do more damage so i dont do that anymore and havent for a very long time
my sisters favourite team is skirk premium........
doing big damage is part of the game and it feels nice like it or not. big numbers appearing, enemies disappearing is great. i think that any discussion on rolling characters should have that as a primary focus especially because most people (f2p) get one chance at a 5 star every 40 days. lose your 5050 and now its 80 days. getting something that will not improve your account or best team like xilonen will feel bad for a lot of people. there was a post on mavuika mains about a guy complaining that he does less damage with xilonen rather than iansan. that guy might have lost his 5050 to get said xilonen, that would probably feel bad
what im trying to say is obv dont call people out for being mid like this guy, but also try to center discussions on easy to build damage. this isnt the fault of anyone other than genshin economic model of course. if 5 stars came every 10 days instead 40 or 80 we would be having a totally different discussion. my anti meta anti calc anti proper rotations sisters favourite team is not chasca.
its premium skirk
as someone who completes all endgame content (except dire onslaught) I'll never judge someone for not completing it. It's annoying and only judges you based on how good you are at playing genshin as an enemy killing simulator. the game is an ARPG, last I checked I dont need to be a meta-prisoner just to kill some hilichurls for a chest, advance in the questline, decorate serenitea pot, play miliastra wonderland/TCG, build characters, etc.
the endgame modes rewards are absolutely ass, too. spending 20k primogems to get one good character is not worth the 200 primos you'll get from beating abyss 12. and in nod-krai you can change that cost to 40k primos since now characters come out in pairs. in stygian, all primo rewards are coop-able. in IT, the arcana levels give you 200 primos total, but beating those typically just means having more characters, not having better characters.
and all of this is not to mention that you can beat abyss floor 12 with only 4 stars. not that it's easy, but it shows that there's really not much point in pulling specific meta characters as long as you're willing to put in the effort to make weaker characters perform well.
I get non constructive replies like
"Destined to be unable to clear Dire. Stuck at Diff5 for SO." "Spend so much pull c6 to do c0 level of damage with your team lineup"
To "this team will never work, it isn't meta".
Sometimes I wish these elitist players can just realise that not everyone plays meta. And not everyone aims to clear end game.
I... dont give a shit?
