I love everything about Varesa except her being a cow instead of normal human.
I was recently doing Natlan and when my friend told you must have Varesa, she is fast and awesome and the only character who is chubby and curvy I was so happy. But when I looked at design it was a big nah for me. Today is the last day to pull for her but I won't.
Why of all in Teyvat they had to make her a cow and not just normal human. It wasn't cute representation for me. I am ok she is not fat enough cause let's face, business perspective she need bring in sales. As much as players demand fat representation, reality is very less niche group will be pulling. But choosing cow is totally optional.
A lot of Asian culture has fat people getting teased as cows and pigs. The only downgrade left for her is her being pig instead of cow. In fact there are clothing shops that calls out fat people as cows too. Being a Asian myself cow is a well called insult for fat people. The only character who is chubby and eats well, they decided to make her a literal cow.
I would genuinely liked the characters if she is normal human girls who loves eating lot. Her design and playstyle is so good. But whenever I see her horns and cow ears I just don't like it.
If this is the thicker representation I don't want it. I am ok with the normal skinny 5 stars.

Varesa isn't fat. Like, at all, really. Yeah, she's less slim than other characters, but she's far from fat.
Varesa is (loosely) based on Mexican wrestlers, and is part of a tribe where fitness and health are held in very high regard. She's one of the people who trains under Iansan.
Rather than representing a 'fat' body, Varesa has a 'healthy' body. She eats, and she eats a lot, but this is presented in a very food-positive manner: You need to eat to be strong. Sports won't help you if you don't have the nutrients.
As for the 'cow' thing, it's worth mentioning the text likes to bring up the word 'bull', even though she's a girl. Her animations see her ramming forward. She's not a cow because she's fat. She's a cow, a bull, because she's strong and she's an unstoppable force of power.
(Ironically, even though Genshin doesn't strive for realism much at all, Varesa's body type is more accurate to a strong ánd healthy body than the expected toned body with burgeoning muscles)
Like if you watch someone like the Rock show his daily routine, the man eats 5-7 meals per day, and it’s all high protein/ carb rich, just to keep up with his workouts.
So balancing that against her training and fitness (she even talks you through it lol) is perfectly normal and yeah - ironically a more realistic representation of health & fitness

Bulls (more specifically oxen) are commonly used to plow fields in farms which also ties into her managing a farm/orchard.
There is also something to be said that despite being a "cow" (female cattle) she works in a profession dominated by bulls (male cattle), this observation is a stretch but it is an interesting detail.
She has bull horns.
Varesa isn’t chubby representation. She is thiccer than other characters, but she’s by no means chubby. She also isn’t inspired by Asian culture. Her mask, and especially the mask of her tribesmates all resemble a lucha libre mask, which is Mexican wrestling.
Her horns and cow features are super cute. Just appreciate them for that, the same way you would any other characters with animal features.
