Game size on PS5 is madness
What the heck is this? The game is already over 160gb on PS5, bigger than probably both PC and mobile combined, and now this? Why does the PS5 version of Hoyo games have no option to delete older stuff that will never be seen again? HSR is 140gb as well. This is ridiculous man.

Yes that would be your best option, I used it often when fortnite started getting really big.
It’s very dumb.
thanks in advance
Genshin 110 gb
Hi3 57 gb
HSR 92 gb
ZZZ 67 gb
Wwm,overwatch, genshin and ff7 rebirth.
Dang it, Where Winds meet might have to go...
Also fuck Sony for literally paying for an exclusive feature and fuck hoyo for selling it.
the game is not going to be 71gb larger after the installation
They already have a feature for mobile that deletes old quest data, they need to add it to PC and console. Or let us replay quests or something so all the storage it takes up isn't *utterly* useless.
miHoYo is not the problem here. Say thx to Sony
So you need every time redownload the game
Edit: typo.
the real crime here is how the fuck Sony didn't get their balls ripped off for the 665 gb storage on the ps5, when it should've been 1TB minimum
If that would be the case then everytime there is an predownload to anyy game you would be required to download the whole game but when there was predownload for paladin to diablo 4 i didn't need to download 150 GB of data.
Last time when i was required to download full game with every update it was Street fighter 5, and it was problem on capcom side.
So it's Hoyo fault and they could fix this but they simple don't care
Shame more devs are not doing what Helldivers 2 dev did and optimise the game to get rid of all the duplicate files.
Only HSR, and ZZZ PC clients have that option. I want for Genshin PC too.
Btw great flair! 💛
when updates are done, the exchange from old version to new version removes all data from old events and other non permanent stuff and replaces it with the temporary data for the new patch..
However, I absolutely share the point, that we should becoem finally able to delete all the permanent shit, we don't need anymore, or which was completely optional to begin with, ike all the language packs..
If we could just only delete that optional garbage finally, to get rid of japanese, chinese, and korean language iles for the WHOLE GAME, that somebody who doesnt speak these languages WILL NEVER need, the game should easily be able to get reduced from like 150GB to like 100 GB, which would be MASSIVE, if we could reduce finally the size of the game that way by 33%, which includes then also removing not needed anymore story content, because the stuff isn't replayable anyways, so no need to keep that data and optional repeatable stuff like hangouts, one time domains, one tiem doable quest data naturally...
I just think MHY is just holding back with these improvements, because of the existance still of the PS4 version, due to the game havign there a different consolse struture, than the other console versions for the more mondern consoles that have SSD's, like most modern gamign pcs's
Sure, we console players also have the option to expand our memory space, but these options are expensive either, or require of you to be mechanically knowledgeable of opening up your console and doctor around its insides, to add in there SSD storage space expansions and mechanically close it then again perfectly, without destroying anything the exact way reverse, how you opened it up, which requires naturally havign all the neccessary tools for that, to open the console up even first..and if you dont know what you are doing there, its a very risky thing.. which is also somethign you should do with a young PS5 that still has guarantee, because if you open it up and doctor around in it, you lose your manufacturer's guarantee for the console. so better let it do by professionals, but then it becomes naturally again expensive for you on top of having to buy naturally the fitting SSD extension that meets up all requirements and gets supported by Sony, because not all of them naturally are.
And havign to go that route would hopefully be the very last option I'd have to go, after MHY doing first what they can and shoudl to to optimize the game for the consoles by doing software based solutions that gives us finalyl the tools into our hands to reduce the game size for us to the least minimum required amount, based on what you need and your game progress.
Like and I am really curious to know.
\- Delete one game and reinstall it later
\- Delete stuff from Media like saved videos or pictures
\- Delete and reinstall the game after the release of the version
\- Extend your storage with a 1 TB SSD
For me, since i have only 35 GB left on my PS5 and i don't have extended the storage, i will wait until the next maintenance and then i will proceed by deleting the game and reinstall it.
Like, is this the only way to ensure, to get rid of old content data you don't need anymore for example, that the game doesn't delete by itself, or just not that good, leaving alot of data crumbs?.
Never done this so far, because of simply the size of the game, it woudl take ages to redownload the full game - sure, could be done over night, or while being at work , leavign the console simply on.
Option B is to have an extra storage. I just keep all my games that I don’t actively play on that and them move them back when I feel like playing them.
i wont have storage for 7.x so i hope they do something about
Just delete another shitter game you don't play, get the update and then reinstall if you really want.
The money option is to add an SSD to your PS5. Do some research and look for sales, and you easily find one larger than the built in SSD. Hell, by now, you can probably find one faster too. They're pretty easy to install. You're not voiding any warranties or risking bricking your PS5 either. It's designed to get this upgrade.
I think that added like 30GB to the patch. Before it was around 25GB-40GB... or is this one especially large?
Sure, compared to the ps3 days when everyone was complaining about GTA V being 40gb it's massive. But these days many big AAA games crack 100gb and plenty also go to 150gb
But yeah, the way ps5 does updates is it downloads the file then applies it to the game, so you won't see a 70gb increase in size once you finish updating. Part of me thinks hoyo must be doing something wrong - surely they must be including things in the update file that don't need to be
