zibai or varesa
hi everyone, i need some advice on whether i should go for zibai or varesa. i do like Varesa ofc but her banner is also enticing because i have c5 Chevy c1 Iansan and c5 Gaming. However i do feel a bit apprehensive lately with pulling a unit on a rerun and wonder if I should just go for Zibai instead. I want both units but I can’t afford both, but I am getting Columbina 100%. i like both of their play styles, and i would be happy getting either one.

I don't know enough about Zibai at this point to really know her true potential but she may work well with Navia however you do have Xilonen who is already a fantastic teammate for her.
All in all you should probably pull for whoever you find the most attractive, and I don't just mean visually. But if you think having a cute bouncy cow is more up your alley then go for her otherwise you can go for a cool hype mysterious horse angel moon thing that I guess flys around in a cart? Lol idk
Could also swap Zhong for Illuga to maximize Zibai's personal damage. Double hydro, double geo is the go-to team for Zibai.
If you don't really care about meta power level, then sure, grab varesa for some exploration fun. You plan on getting Columbina, so you have Zibai's best team already as soon as you get an illuga (c6 best, but even 1 is great).
If you want power, roll Zibai. If you want exploration, roll Varesa.
Illuga massively boosts Geo Crystallize damage, more than anyone else, even at c0. He super boosts Zibai directly at c4 boosting def. At c6, he boosts geo crit rate (10%) and dmg (30%). But even at c0, his burst is what is making the geo crystalize damage damage skyrocket, based on his EM). And at those higher cons, he is boosting every relevant stat that people want.
For Varesa, I was building for damage. Not necessarily comparable to Mavuika, but just solid damage. The c6 chev and iansan is to maximize Chevreuse's healing, and the secondary damage buffs she gets, and the healing also amps attack, allowing for chev to stay off field longer, and your dps to stay *on* field longer.. C6 Iansan is because c2 is a 30% atk increase, c4 makes her restoration of Nightsoul points better, which is important for c6, because c6 is *another* 25% DMG increase on top of the 30% ATK. There's a *noticeable* drop off from both.
For Zibai, I am building because I love Liyue. Her natural damage is unreal, so that is just a plus.
Zibai will be great with Columbina, but you'll be unlikely to get a high-consts Illuga with just getting her C0. You do have Xilonen and Furina though. Meanwhile you pretty much have a Varesa team already.
However keep one thing in mind, since Varesa has a rerun now, she is less likely to get another one soon, whereas Zibai will probably be getting one within a year.
And finally: next patch contains an AQ, a new map expansion, and Lantern Rite. There's a lot of primogems to obtain, so there is a non-zero chance that you could in fact get both. Not guaranteed obviously, but you could probably get at least one pity out of it if starting from zero, so it's down to the 50/50.
