is genshin worth getting back into?
ive been playing since day one and i quit the game half way through natlan for reasons that i dont feel like discussing.
however, looking at new trailers and stuff, honestly it looks like a completely different game.
can someone tell me whats new without spoiling and if its worth getting back into?

Try it and either you find it's still the very same that drove you away last time or you find it new and refreshing.
Either way, you got nothing to lose except some time
The bad stuff: Character balancing is weird, Columbina is balanced around having Lauma/Ineffa and can be lackluster without either of them, Lunar reactions are locked behind Nod Krai 5-stars.
Lantern rite is coming so it's a good time to come back if you're trying to get rewards.
What's new? Some new characters, a new region, and Lunar reactions.
It’s free, so I don’t really understand why you wouldn’t just try it for yourself instead of asking strangers on the internet whether you should.
Lanternrite is in the next patch so we'll be getting additional rewards for that. Geo looks like it will get a nice buff, but only with Columbina or Zibai on the team and only works with Hydro crystallize reactions.
It's the exact same game it was before. If you dropped it for existential reasons, then yes. Pick it up again. If you dropped it for gameplay reasons, then no. It's the same exact game. If you dropped it for writing, its the same type of writing. if you dropped it for characters, those characters still exist. if you dropped it for not having the strongest team to do abyss, imaginarium, etc. then wait til the new patch drops in a few days and get your reward bonuses then, rather than missing out on the current timer of like... 14 hours or so. The next patch has the broken characters dropping.
And turns out I need to finish Wanderer’s story to progress the main story, which I’ve been neglecting since god knows when🤣Anyway this is on me, not complaining. Should’ve done it a long time ago.
I know I am only here for the story this time. So whatever happens with character kits, meta shift, new endgame or whatnot doesn’t really bother me. Honestly I don’t even know who to pull right now. I took a quick glance at the character line up and only Alice interested me but apparently she’s not coming anytime soon 🤷🏼plus she’s pyro and I’ve already got our lord and saviour Mavuika. Guess I’ll just grab Columbina to try out some new reactions.
What's new? idk I mean it's more or less the same game as always. If you were upset about Artifacts or the endgame, it's either the same or worse. If you wanted more lore stuff to be more prevalent in the narrative, that is there a little bit. The characters are fun, Flins is cool, Varka is a dad, Lauma is an interesting priestess leader, Jahoda is a fun girlfailure, Aino and Ineffa are cute and Nicole is shaping up to be fun too. Illuga from what we've seen looks cool (at least imo) and Columbina has some interesting lore I think. Sandrone is always pleasant on the screen too
I like the music a lot and the Nod-Krai area, as small as it is so far, was fun to explore. The monsters are really cool too and the locales are really interesting and they feel a little "fuller" so to speak. Like Nasha Town is bigger than I expected for a Genshin "town" - we're a long ways from Springvale
