So, I suggested we take it inside, place it on the shelf by the window, and asked the adults to fashion a cage for it.

Well I am sure you are able to list a bunch of other games that allow this feature so that you can say to them "Game X does it so why doesn't Genshin allow it?".
You ***can*** list at least one other game that allows it on PS5... right? Especially one of those $80+ paid for AAA games because surely a game you ***pay for*** would go to the trouble of adding a feature like that for its paying customers... right?

I think one of the Gears of War games allowed you to uninstall the campaign if you only wanted the multiplayer, but otherwise I've never seen a game let you decide to remove parts of it. However I have seen games do some major debloating, most notably helldiver's 2, which dropped a slim version for hdd that went from 150 to 30 gb.
