In This Economy… Why Are World Bosses Still Excluded from Condensed Resin?
Genuine question: why can’t we use Condensed Resin after world boss fights?
It saves time everywhere else, the fights already take effort, and in this economy it just feels unnecessarily restrictive.
Is there an actual design reason for this, or is it just an old system that never got updated?

Spending resin for a chance of getting something or getting nothing is never worth it. So doing it for the drops while ALSO hoping for extra billets is better in terms of resin efficiency.
Meanwhile the Night's set cant be farmed except in its own domain, and u suffer huge dps loss if u dont get it. Then it's worth farming. U get artifact fodder while farming to level the good ones u get too, and to put into the transmuter. Meanwhile if u farm dvalin (or any weekly boss u have 0 use for at all) for the billets at AR60, if u dont get billets, u practically threw those 60 resin onto the ground. Same as farming gladiators. You could instead farm only the weekly bosses u need and get the billets occasionally, just like u can get a good full gladiator's set from farming overworld/weekly bosses that u need, so even if u get a bad piece/dont get the billet drop, you dont end up spending your resin ineffeciently.
Same reason why it's not advised to farm artifact domains where u will only use 1 set from the two in. Not resin efficient, especially if the 2nd best set is only 5% worse in performance and more resin efficient (just like skirk and varesa's domains, they aren't good to farm unless u have both so u can use both sets or are really really extremely dedicated to one of them)
That literally describes artifacts too though, and people are happy to keep chasing them even after they have a complete set
Also: character leveling mats, possibly billets & dream solvent
Resin efficiency is a non issue after a year or two.
You are just not goign to use every character you've pulled.
Also why would I pull for a character that I have no intention to play? I use every character I pull, because otherwise I just threw away wishes.
On the second point, it's not like you really have control over which 4* happen in your pull attempts towards 5*.
Also I'm sure a lot of players that started much later into the games life NEED to do more than 3 bosses a week to get boss materials to upgrade characters.
It's also not that much less efficient than farming extra world bosses you don't need if for some reason you're specifically trying to farm gems, glad / wanderer artifacts and/or the 4 star artifact sets. But I think that's literally what you were saying too anyway?
I do all weeklies every week, exactly as you say for billets
Played without break since 1.4 :')
sadly can't say the same about solvents tho
Now there's the option to use 40 resin, and still condensed is faster because it's worth 60 resin now.
You could do 3 a week and still get none of the drops you need. (Plus, HSR is limited to only 3 weekly bosses a week period. In Genshin you can do each boss once a week, for a total of 13 as of 6.3)
You could do 3 a week and get no Dream Solvent, I dont see how that would help with how Genshin's materials are layed out.
I just dont think it would help that much
assuming you are 0/3 which is highly unlikely
it def helps its weird how you see it doesnt.
You only get 3 discounted runs, having to level up multiple characters will make you use multiple bosses (example here: columbina zibai and illuga all use different world bosses) so doing each 3 times requires already 30x3+60x9=630 resin= 3.1 days' worth of resin, let alone if you needed any other world boss runs. Material runs, mora runs and book runs are gonna also take a lot of resin themselves, all of that combined will take weeks' worth of resin. When are you gonna farm for artifacts before the next character rolls around? When statistically you need 1~2months worth of resin for a good to high quality full artifact set?
Also calm down. No need to downvote. We're talking like mature people. I'm not downvoting you. Stop being childish for no reason I'm not even insulting you for those downvotes, I'm only stating my personal opinion like you stated yours. Let people discuss, if you didnt want others to disagree with you in a civil manner then don't comment.
Edit: keep in mind that most active players arent veterans either. So why should the devs cater to us with something that only us will benefit from while letting the majority of their active playerbase suffer? Or making new players suffer and leave the game right as they start because of such resin-heavy requirements? From a logical standpoint, unless the game only allows veterans to play, it is impossible for them to make such a move with this amount of world bosses. They release 2 per region. The total bosses is too high for this.
imagine caring about down votes im not down voting you but i can see why you're being down voted cuz youre straight up wrong lol
you basically proving my point why we need the option to fight the same boss 3x a week. it gives options and variety/ flexibility. having once a week is stupid most of us arent in old regions anymore lol
there is no down side/ negative for having the option for fighting the same boss 3 times a week. it shouldnt even be a debate. thats why you're wrong and getting downvoted.
Unless.genshin deletes some weekly bosses and has a low count like hsr, it's simply.not a feasible option to keep all weekly bosses while increasing the amount to farm them. New players will suffer, which games should cater to them as much as they cater to other players.
ZZZ drops one mat per boss, but unlike the other two games, you can spend the resin equivalent to rematch the boss and get the mat again and again
At the same time… have they ever dropped a new collectible, world boss, and weekly boss at the same time again? Or does Raiden still hold the crown of “least prefarmable character” from that angle?
Now world boss, new weekly boss, new flowers, of which there are around 50-60 on map.
Only Mora, EXP, and books were prefarmable.
So the cons are if you wanna build more than 3 characters at once? Like, if you decide to build a full new team, it'd take longer since you can only farm for 3 characters a week and you need to build 4.
Personally, I think building so many characters at once is madness, but as a returning player, there were many weeks I found myself fighting 5-6 weekly bosses for mats.
So, beating one boss, 3 times a week, is a pro for endgame players who get 1 new character every 2 months or so, but a con to everyone else
While fighting all the bosses, once a week, is a con to players who only have up to 3 character they wanna build, and a pro to everyone who have a whole roster of unbuilt characters
Timegating the storyline content works well. That's effectively how tv episodes function. The key is anticipation and experiencing something new after the wait.
But timegating the same upgrade grind only exasperates players as content has a shelf life. After 6 years, Genshin's Weekly Boss lockouts, and 3 Day Talent upgrades are waaay past their expiration date.
Having played WoW, Destiny, FF14, Diablo, etc, samey timegated grinds and the loss of novelty are toxic for player retention.
What? Since you want to be a jackass I can tango.
I in no uncertain terms pointed out there are different types of timegating and some of them are fine if not good. I can tell I was overly generous in assuming readers such as yourself could connect the fairly obvious dots there.
That said, assuming all systems, including timegated systems, are equal is naively simplistic at best. The WoW team took several years to figure that out the hard way. Hard fact is execution matters, especially for timegating as there are dozens of metaphorical knobs and levers to fine tune things. There actually is an art to making the player engage with timegating to maximize engagement while minimizing the chances for burnout.
There are also psychologists and biologists that study the dopamine reward pathways that clearly indicate the greater the wait, the greater the feeling of reward. No pain, no pleasure. Same idea.
Also you agree with timegating story content but there were a shit ton of people complaining about the Durin story being locked behind 5 days just recently. Bottom line is Hoyo knows the worth of timegating and probably has the data to back it up.
I feel like if a developer has to attach an "Open" first week for banner materials: You created a workaround to nullify a core mechanic of your system for when it's most relevant. That strongly suggests that 3 day system is probably bad.
But if you mean the farmable ones, they cost 40.
You could argue that before it should be used on world bosses. And now, you could say it should be used for weekly.
Honestly, it's likely by design that you can't farm bosses quickly without a refresh option. And honestly, they should be the only reason you should use your fragile resin on as well. (you could argue talent books or weapon ascension, but you can use Condensed for those.)
spending 200 resin with 3 guaranteed and a chance for 4: 15-20
spending 180 with 5 guaranteed and a chance for 6: 15-18
any further and suddenly 180 resin is worth more than 200 resin. so in order to constrain it to making sense in a ratio, condensed resin on bosses becomes redundant.
Realistically it's because optimizing Genshin is incredibly low on priority since the game practically prints money at a steady but not increased pace (it's profit but not increased profit). Genshin is getting old.
World Bosses are 40 Resin
You would lose 20 Resin
