Could Genshin realistically achieve its 20 year plan
Sooo as we all know teyvats main storyline only has 3 year left until its end and like…are people gonna stick around for genshin part 2?
Lowkey the only thing Genshin has going for it is its setting and characters and lore and I feel like most ppl r gonna quit once teyvats ends
And with Miliastra being a complete flop they lowkey can’t fall back on using that to pad out the games lifespan
Ofc Genshin won’t eos within the next 20 years but I highly doubt it’ll retain even 2/3rds of its playerbase

As for me, maybe I’ll play Part 2, or maybe I won’t, idk. But for now, I’m still playing Genshin because I want to see how the Teyvat chapter ends
I wouldn't rule out them being able to put together another ten years of content. They have enough magic and sci fi in the setting that they can expand anywhere they want. Think World of Warcraft going "Ok, now we are on a new continent", "Now the whole world got transformed by a dragon", "Now we are in outer space", "Now we traveled back in time". It won't keep the same playerbase as at the peak but at least a some players will stay engaged for years to come.
2 - Several other games with dedicated fanbases have had long term shelf lives. WoW and RuneScape are still going strong out there. There's no reason to believe Genshin will be different, considering how strong it is after the 5 year mark.
3 - Since before Day 1, the current game has been described as the Teyvat Chapter. It won't close and then abruptly start over somewhere else. It will just roll from one part of the story to the next, with enough continuity to keep things going.
4 - MW gets hate on Reddit, but is popular in general and HUGELY popular with Chinese players.
But if that belief makes you happy, so be it.
I can totally see Genshin be there like 10 years from now.
Second, source on Miliastra flopping beyond "I don't like it"
Genshin will surely be the one single unique gacha game to fail to retain it's players through the completion of one plotline and the initiation of a second plotline.
1. Difference: The language issue.. chinese players never have the issue of having ANY language barriers compared to European Players, which struggle when any bullshit in MW is added and not properly translated to AT LEAST English, because we are a continent full of many different languages.. CHINA is not ... so they dont know this conflict potential ever
2. Difference: Populatation .. we are talking here about a massive difference of potential players for MW.. when China has near 1,5 BILLION people, wheres in Europe for example live only 744 Million, so HALF of that... so you see basically double as much potential players for MW in China, then in Europe, that big gap would be only closer, if we count all of America to us too, but they have their own Servers, so it makes technically no sense, cause we can't play together anyways!
3. Difference: The Culture... Chinese Players basically have grown up with Gacha Games, its basicalyl part of their culture.. the chance that chinese young people have played already in their lives some kind of Gacha Games before Genshin and similar games like MW as liek Roblox, Fortnite ect, is drastically bigger, than it its for european young players, which may have been in contact with stuff liek Fortnite more likely, than with Gacha Games, when Gacha games got basicalyl their breakthrough in the west firs 5 years ago thanks to Genshin Impact's huge success at the right time, when Covid struck all of the world and everybody needed some kind of entertainment to get not crazy, which being stuck permanently at home. Without Covid Genshin likely wouldnt ever have become THAT big of a deal in the West at least. Or it would have needed more time to reach that popularity first at least eventually, but Covid functioned for Genshin like accellerators at that time., because of its free to play aspect basically.
4. Difference: More positive Mentality, that comes together with having never any language Issues and much more likeminded people around, which are interested in MW and can naturally produce CONTENT for it, because a mode like MW can only flourish, if there is ALWAYS enough new content produced for it to keep the players entertained. If the MW content thats there, doesn't get updated to fix Bugs and improve/expand it, because their owners treat their content like fire and forget experiences (or delete it even again after adding it, due to feedback) and you see over months in the UI like basically always the same old stuff - MW becomes extremely quickly BORING, because MHY made it not rewarding enough AT ALL to keep players entertained with it.. heck, they add even no own MW content, all MHY does so far is using MW as another source to milk their whales with suddenly super fast produced massive amounts of Skins - (with that kind of speed would have nearly a third of all Characters in the real game by now finally a Skin !!!) MW so far is nothign but boring 10-15 minutes of doing always the same stuff over 3 days to get your 800 wish currency to do your lousy 5 wishes on the free loser banner.. and thats it, theres nothing else to do, than standing around permanently in a hall full of AFKers and repeatedly do the same 5-10 minute content.. that you do like a few times, before it becomes borign already, because its always the same.
It would be somethign different, if the game woudl grow in its content way faster, than you can play it..like I log in and suddenly see like 100 new things of high quality to play..long in tomorrow and see another 100 new thigns, because theres simply enough people constantly working on new content. But as long MW is in regard of new content stagnant like nearly a snail, it will stay a flop in at least the west.
Hopefulll the situation will change to the better, once Classic Mode allows to use the Genshin Characters, but as long simply not enough people can produce new content, which is why its a joke that MHY limits content production so far to PC players only, I see for MW no big future at least in Europe, als long also not the constant language barriers get fixed
A lot of Genshin's charm comes from the slow-burn revelations regarding the various elements of the story. Unearthing the truth about the world by way of cryptic lore-bits revealed in quests, item descriptions, and loads of reports by unreliable narrators.
This is partly driven by the fact that the protagonist is dropped into the world in almost as clueless a state as we are. They learn about the world and the plot at the same time that we do as players.
By the time Chapter One comes to a close, most of the mysteries of Teyvat will likely be known to us. Will Chapter Two be able to recapture that same level of mystery and discovery? If these will be the further adventures of the Traveler, how will they once again by placed in a situation where they need to uncover deep truths?
I'll almost certainly be there for the conclusion of Chapter One, and will likely be there for the start of Chapter Two, as well - but it remains to be seen how well the transition is made, and how much of Genshin's charm it's able to recapture.
As ip? That's depends
