Hear me out: Pre-2.0 Artifact Sets QoL changes that would be awesome!
Seeing that Hoyoverse is greatly improving **old characters’** gameplay/power/value by buffing them in some way (Hexerei characters buff), we're all waiting for this to eventually be extended to **Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru** characters if they keep following this logic.
Then, if you’ve been paying attention, most new Artifact sets lately aren’t nearly as restrictive as the old ones, especially when it comes to off-field activation of their effects/buffs. Pretty much all of the newer ones can be activated off-field, so… why not make some good QoL changes for the old pre-2.0 Artifact sets as well?
So I thought of some QoL changes for these sets (highlighted in green in the pics).
Most of these changes would greatly improve gameplay and buff/rotation management, without being unreasonably broken for the game balance. Some changes would increase rotation comfort, some would increase DPS a little bit, opening up new 2p+2p options and some sets would finally become viable build options instead of being forgotten (Retracing Bolide, Thundersoother, Lavawalker).
What do you guys think?

These changes would just bring more lifespan and usability to these old sets that most players have a bunch laying around.
But the one thing I could 100% get behind is adding a 5 star version of the instructors set while adding that passive. It would make it feel less weird using it on premium supports given how good it already is.
Kazuha is still good and used with mavuika/arlechino, and xilonen is more of a sidegrade than a replacement.
The teams where you dont use kazuha, you wouldt use him even if that change to VV was made
The only difference is that the buff would be applied for the full rotation, not just like 5-7 seconds (cuz of animations).
That severely devalues the upcoming domain besides those owning either Hex characters, or going to update Ineffa
You want to need to split your resin effectively across 10 different domains to maximize efficiency, or just focus on the newest one/one that benefits you the most and be done?
if they updated the older sets it would at least be nice to either go back farming them or just strongbox them.
>because there's no point in farming those domains
You literally answered yourself
Once they are on the strongbox, there is literally no reason to go back, unless you are desperate for more pieces/resin, as such them been updated changes absolutely nothing
In fact, getting Noblesse to stack, or VV to work off field, is only gonna make carries more broken than they already are. And would severely make every single character that relies on those stats, to be balanced specifically around it stacking, so weaker in practice without it
Noblesse stacking is also just a balance thing, since you can use many ATK% buff sources, but since NO don't stack you are strict to which characters you use together, but if you use like 3 NO users in the same team instead of other type of buffs, it would give you diminishing returns in the end, so not that unbalanced either.
And yet Sucrose, Venti or Lanyan still creep their way into meta teams precisely because of carrying it
Ironic
The only one who got actively sidelined is Kazuha, and because his swirling doesnt work with newer characters and his buff duration is shorter

When the other "support" is using at best Emblem, a second Noblesse stack is not "diminishing returns"
Sucrose is used solely for EM sharing, not because of VV, lately she's using even Silken instead of VV.
Venti = Hexerei buff, hence he is only worth now as on-fielder, so VV is just what left for him to use, and it'll be replaced with the new 6.3 set tho.
Lanyan was at least a full year from the last time I saw someone using her, I don't know which meta team you're talking about.
>When the other "support" is using at best Emblem, a second Noblesse stack is not "diminishing returns"
You literally can use NO + Millelith and get the exact same result as if 2 NO was able to stack... I was talking about using 3x(+20%) or even 4x sets instead of other elemental/NA/CA/Plunge/Reaction buffs for your DPS, it would for sure get diminishing returns mate by the way the dmg formula is written.
Kazuha is still good on mavuika or arlechino teams for example
no. you forgot to include where i said *if they were updated*. strongboxing is extremely inefficient if you need a full 4pc set.
artifacts like deepwood, marachussee, GT, tenacity, etc. are still good despite being in the strongbox. being in the strongbox is only about how old the set is, regardless of its power.
instead of just keep making new artifact sets that give crit rate for the new shiny dps it would be nice to revive old artifacts that were always clunky or considering "not optimized"
And yet they started adding them at a much faster rate because people complained it took too long for a reason
>no. you forgot to include where i said if they were updated. strongboxing is extremely inefficient if you need a full 4pc set.
More inefficient it is to split your resin across multiple domains purely because of needing pieces for both because now, after years of trashing pieces, it suddenly becomes meta and a must have

Unironically 1 per region, minus Inazuma,Liyue and Sumeru
1 locked to cryo(Mondstadt)
1 locked behind either losing hp, or glued to furina
1 locked behind triggering nightsoul
1 locked behind 2 teammates or more from the region
Its almost like they are there to make building easier
I wish we had more content that wasn't just "kill enemy fast". Like "survive for amount of time" (Qiqi would rule supreme) or "apply element/reaction this many times". You know, more than damage checks
That's not the problem for me, since I use Petra only on Zhongli (hold E = he insta pick the shards), the problem is that the set count only the last shard you've picked to give the buff, which in some situations it can be the wrong element of your DPS, so even if you could pick up off-field or count at the generation of the shard, it would still suffer from the same problem, actually it would be worse.
Extra bonus for AP is to have it buff geo + PHEC so it works for geo DPSes. Would be a banger set to put on Gorou.
Also, tell me then which changes made on those sets that aren't actually addressing these artifact sets problems/QoL and are just a preference?! Cuz these changes looks pretty reasonable.
but i hardly disagree with the VV changes lol
would be too op and not everyone can use it well
