It's not an opinion thing, it's a "I made things up in my head and decided it was canon without any official source ever going in this direction, and then when reality doesn't match, I act like the devs retconned something"

Most of the people who complained about Columbina's portrayal and Natlan's direction weren't just disliking it. They were angry that it didn't match a very specific headcanon. Not "I don't really like Natlan/Columbina", but "Natlan/Columbina is done *wrong* and *should* have been something completely different".

The Natlan thing is especially funny because we already have dialogue as far back as Inazuma stating that it's a tourist destination known for its relaxing hot springs.

I expected something more violent from Natlan sure. But I LOVE what we have right now. Comparing a character to an entire region isn't good either though. Natlan WAS a hellscape they just had methods to manage it.

As for Columbina I don't hate her so much as I hate forced Trial Characters. They hyped up the Sinners to fight with just for me to get stuck with Nefer and HYDRO TRAVELER!! That bum!

I would be fine with a difficult boss fight if I could:

A- Stock up on as much items/buffs as I wanted before hand

B- Not have a bs Time limit that's impossible to adhere to without a very specific banner character mechanic. Seriously there are all of two pyro plunge DPS and I have neither of them.

I think what he means is if it wasn't trial characters they'd be trying to balance a "hard" fight for so many varianced levels of power from everyone's accounts that it would be either impossible for some people who just run for story (people who can't properly equip characters or handle abyss) versus dolphins with some cons, versus whales who have c6 and do speed runs. You can see how the line blurs really quickly once you start talking about balancing difficulty especially regarding story bosses who are canonically really tough. They're always going to balance closer to casual story players power levels so that its beatable.

Now I don't really like the trial characters take either mind you. But in some cases they are one time fights which really probably should just be turned into world bosses with accompanying difficulty. I don't even really remember what the sinner's moveset was since I was more busy trying to figure out how nefer functions since traveler will always be useless

The thing I don't understand is hoyo never shown her in a eldrich horror angel once in their trailers the only headcannons started fir it was the fan arts and fan made videos of her in hoyo fair and two vpice lines of scara and childe and were bummed out that she wasn't the one shown in those had it been official i can understand their sadness but since it wasn't shown by them so we can't expect it i guess

I loved natlan literally my second favorite place, i wanted columbina to be creepy but guess what? that's not why i hate her, i could've loved her if she had more personality, if she wasn't clearly a character for a "certain targeted audience". I don't care if she likes the traveler, i didn't mind citlali HECK I LOVE CITLALI but with columbina it felt forced asf, the way in both her teaser and trailer she completely forgets the others who helped her and just fixates on the traveler is so annoying, her past isn't even that sad and they're just trying to make me feel for her when the whole quest i was feeling NOTHING, this whole damsel in destress thing is boring and many more things that made me dislike her buuuuuut i won't get into it cause yall can't stand it when people have different opinions and directly assume: lore skipper!! You believe headcanons!! Etc...

When i first saw columbina in the winter night lazzo trailer, not once had it cross my mind that she would be a fallen angel or any related to it since the first time i think of her is she's one of the seelie races because of the way hoyo presented her to us.

As for natlan thats a different story. For a nation who pride it self for being a nation of war, it sure is not like one which completely throw me off by surprise. I mean inazuma is more of a nation of war than natlan, honest to god.

It was just said as a Nation of war and it lived upto it in Act IV and war with Bakunawa is still not over. Natlan was rarely mentioned in the game and when mentioned it was said to be a vacation spot. Most hate ride on people's headcanon.

Thats what i said. In their promotion they advertised natlan as a nation of war even their archon has the title as the god of war. So naturally players assumed that natlan has a similar vibe to the civil war thorned inazuma so when they showed that natlan was a happy go lucky nation people were thrown off completely by surprise by it. Which weirded/ alienated alot of players.

Doesn't matter why it's described as a nation of war. What matters is that it completely failed to sell that idea to us. Very little of its worldbuilding does enough to convince anyone with eyes that it's been in a war of attrition with the Abyss for hundreds of years.

Probably mostly because her life story is that she was born about 500 years ago in Frostmoon Enclave where she did nothing, then she joined the Fatui and did nothing, then she returned to the Frostmoon Enclave and did nothing and then she wanted to go to the moon where she was not planning on doing anything.

Not really, people says bina is boring because well, she is boring. She is the most Disney princess character in genshin with that damn self insert traveler as her white knight. Not only is her story just shallow and can be summed up in two words : "make friends" or "go home", but all the connections she has or had with other characters are being swept under the rug to further promote the self insert of her and traveler being a couple. And people who say they dont see it because they chose Lumine are just as delusional as people who silence the negative opinion about her. Her character could have been better, especially as someone who wears the title of "archon" and harbinger but hoyo just chose the laziest way of writing her, by glazing the hell of the self insert MC.

Say what you want about mavuika or natlan, but at least they are their own characters (minus citlali) and exist independantly from the MC

People keep saying the traveler is a self insert but why would they bother giving him any kind of voices dialogue if he really was purely a self insert . Why did they increase the amount of voiced dialogue with colombina specifically?
Why give him any type of agency at all ?

There are alot of gacha games that gives the mc a generic look , makes him completely silent and have basically 0 backstory or story relevance and they could've easily done that , in fact it would save them so much if they went for that route .

I don't know why people think that we someone ships the traveler and colombina they think that they are seeing themselves in the travelers shoes and imagining themselves as the one talking to colombina when they really just enjoy the dynamics between the two .

Mostly because I just want an eldritch horror kind of animation and she would fit thematically.
