Quest dialog should be skippable
I am not interested in every storyline in this game and the fact that i cannot skip through certain dialogs is driving me to the point of not wanting to play. I hit a massive wall story wise in Fontaine and i just don’t care for the story but i have to smash buttons for 10 minutes to power through the dialog to try and speed it up. Ffs just let us skip what we are not wanting to read!

sounds like you problem
but im here not expecting them to add it and dont ask for it, it will never happen
if this game was intended to have skip button, we would had it 4 years ago, give up
But you never know...
Personally my big wish is for them to make events permanent and start adding old events like GAA and last year's Lantern Rite to some kind of archive where you can play them as permanent content.

So nothing really wasted
You on the other hand wasted time coming to reddit to complain about story on an story game
So don't play, problem solved.
Sometimes the simplest of problems have the simplest of solutions. I got tired of HSR's story, so I stopped playing and admittedly, Genshin is walking the same tightrope and is about to fall off I feel. You just have to let go, move on, find the pleasure somewhere else.
Genshin has an amazing story being covered up by gacha player engagement/retention methods. I'm fully aware animation like the fight is time consuming, expensive and not possible for quests that are hours long but even still pictures that AutoPlay for real would be better than clicking meaningless options. Or just Auto Play without any need to hit a button every 30 seconds.
Everyone has said everything they can think of saying and both sides realized that only the people wanting a skip button added have a valid argument.
I also had to exit and restart the domain in the archon quest and had to go through all of that dialogue again, and worse, when i was landing after the last moonrail thing i got stuck with Arlecchino spinning in her plunging attack and had to do like twenty minutes of dialogue *again*.
