Thought it was kinda weird that she had initially voiced Dahlia in HSR before being replaced by Cristina Vee without any explanation but now it makes a lot more sense.
I'll definitely miss Jennifer Losi as Ganyu as I use her character daily since patch 1.2.
Her voice work was top notch in that game.
Overall, it was pretty much shitty miscommunication on both ends.
He didn't really understand how videogame VA work and contracts was different from typical VA work (his primary job)
And whoever was managing his rep at Hoyo like just not bothering trying to find a middle ground.
(Not his direct contact, but his contacts' upper manager)
Things I can appreciate is that it was just a simple miscommunication replacement (even if he wasn't in his right calm mind regarding the emails) rather than drama replacement/controversy change because VA did shitty morally questionable thing.
The only one I think they’ve nailed so far is paimon. Maybe some others too but some characters don’t have enough lines for me to know their voice
Like I'd be super upset if we lost some of our better VA
New va or not I’mma still main her
Charlotte is likely because she needs union Healthcare. Ganyu is unknown. Could be healthcare, could be trying to get bigger union jobs. Her Socials were dark for 2 years, so we will never really know.
Regardless, these two didn't cause problems like the shit-clique of toxic voice actors and their supporters, so I hope them the best.
Regardless of what her reasons are, I hope she does well in her future performances. I'm really going to miss her work as Ganyu.
Seriously though, ughhh, I still haven’t played this story quest yet. At this rate I’ll never play it 🫠
One of the first times you encounter as a "new player" is after completing the Mondstadt AQ, when the music feature is unlocked by a quest... that's entirely without voices. Then the anecdote feature after the Liyue AQ with the first ones being the same mish-mash of voiced and voiceless as it originally was.
Paimon's also fairly similar but softer than the previous one.
My first limited character, used her daily for years.
I’m not even sure how to feel about this
Also love Ganyu’s voice, so I am definitely a bit sad. So far, I really haven’t been impressed with the replacement VAs.
It is too late now.
Edit: It's not. Doubt they're gonna bother if they haven't done it already.
Hope the new EN VA will be good + also hoping JP VA is ok now
...I don't want to live in this timeline anymore.
Seriously, that the heck is going on. I thought we were finally past all of the VA issues. How much longer are we going to have to keep worrying about Hoyo games constantly having problems?
I know this sounds melodramatic, but it feels like no character is safe at this point. Anyone could lose their voice at any time, and it just overall makes the game as a whole feel inconsistent and unprofessional. I know there are *reasons* behind these changes (heck if they'll ever tell us what those reasons are, though), but that doesn't stop it from making it a poor experience for players.
I'm just... tired of this. Nevermind that Ganyu is one of my favorite characters and I adore her voice. She was my first 5-star way back when she first released and she's been one of my mains ever since.
Again, I know I may sound over-dramatic, but this really sours the game for me and impacts (no pun intended) my enthusiasm to play it—just like how the VA changes in HSR did, too (and now we're losing **Welt**).
The VAs' voice & performance are such a big part of a character's identity, the character genuinely doesn't feel the same without them. Well—the exception being Paimon. That one was actually a welcome change.
Anyway—sorry for the rant. This just... yeah. I'm bummed AF.
I hope nothing but the best for Jennifer in her future endeavours, and I welcome the new VA with open arms.
Good luck to the replacement vas as well! I'm not to familiar with Ganyu's new va but Charlotte's new va is the best possible replacement they could've picked so that's good news.
Her portrayal of Ganyu was like taking a fleece blanket fresh out of the dryer
