What was your favourite region? And the least liked one?
I'm coming back after I think more than a year, when Xylonen first dropped. I just didn't like Natlan as much as the other regions, particularly Inazuma, Liyue or Fontaine. Even the characters weren't my cup of tea, I loved genshin for the fantasy setting and natlan felt like going in a completely different direction. Now with Nod Krai I feel the sparkle of joy again. Have you had a similar experience?

I dont have a least liked region, all have their own things to enjoy. I will say the Sea of Bygone Eras update did underwhelm me a lot with making the borders of Sumeru just completely barren and empty.
My least favourite is most likely the overworld Inazuma. I think it relates to my experience with Liyue, though, as I spent most of my time there, when Inazuma came out, I already felt the telltale signs of burning out. The Inazuman mechanics with the whole thunder thing just sealed the deal for me, and because of it, I took my very first big break from the game during this period of time.
While we have differing opinions about Natlan (I personally loved it and took me out of another one of my big breaks), I completely understand your feelings about the region. I do love how different it is from the rest of the regions, though, but I still agree that it feels like it's going in a completely different direction, and I'm also relieved that Nod Krai feels like we're going back to the somewhat traditional(? not sure if this is the right word to use) style.
Mondstadt is the oldest and doesn't have a lot going on. It is all just hilichurl camp and doesn't have good world quest. Good story and events, but not what we are judging it about.
Then my favorite is Natlan. The world quest has to be my favorite. The world is vibrant and colorful with several different theme. The music there is great and the puzzles are interesting.
Really it is simply because Hoyo keep improving the their skills each region. I will leave Nod krai out because Nodkrai hasn't finished yet.
Least favorite region: Sumeru, during the patches after the main story finished i just got burned out a bit. I like rainforest vibes but there was also a LOT of desert which im not a fan of in most games. The main events was cool but I wasn’t as excited for them honestly and got burned out around those times and had the longest break from Genshin, only logging in to do the main event quests, that lasted until Fontaine came out
Least is between Sumeru and Natlan, Sumeru desert exploration alone is the single worst thing this game ever had, but it does have my favorite AQ and very good characters.
Natlan on the other hand has a good exploration but i really don't care about most of the cast as neither Characters or Units, the AQ is fine but nothing that memorable to me and it's not EXACTLY a region thing but the gigantic jump in powercreep kind of sours my view of the patch cycle, also if hoyo shoves Kinich/Saurian Coop down my troat one more time with an event i swear i'm finding their HQ
Least fav has gotta be Natlan, I'd rate it at an 11/20. It's not bad, it's just not good in my opinion. I liked exploring only one of its map expansions, while the rest just felt meh. The characters and their personalities felt like 5 steps back from the fontaine cast, and probs my biggest gripe with that specifically is how everyone fawns over the traveller. Lastly, the Archon Quest just didnt make me feel anything for the characters except some apathy and some distain for the way in which a certain cryo grandma acted like a teen who just started puberty.
Despite all the favorite characters are in Inazuma (as a f2p player I have E3 Raiden lol), I think that is my least favorite, not saying I "hate" it like how other dislike it. But I think the plot happens too fast. That being said, the character quests of its time, and the later patches in Inazuma, make it very likeable. They also have some of the best event IMO, looking at you Itto & paimon singing.
Least favorite is probably Sumeru. It’s not bad, the desert just annoys me with how fucking big it is.
I wouldn't say I hate or really dislike any of them, but Natlan and Mondstadt would probably be at the bottom for me. I don't think either are bad though. Natlan's story was alright, just not my personal taste, even while playing I thought a lot of the details could have been better. I also think a lot of the music in Natlan is just ok, not really to my taste. Mondstadt is amazing for integrating new players, and will always be very nostalgic. But as a consequence of that and being the oldest (along with Liyue) the environment is not that memorable and it just leaves older players with not much to go back to imo. I'm both excited and nervous for Dornman port because of that. It would be great to get an expansion of Mond that adds new mechanics and makes it less basic, but if it's too much like newer regions it'll probably confuse new players and feel out of place as a part of Mond
I am Australian, so I might be a bit biased to rugged landscape and interesting creatures
I didn´t like Natlan too much either, it has its strengths, like the best explorations mechanic in the game, at least if you have the needed 5 stars, and some areas are well made, but it always felt disappointing to me.
1) Nod Krai
2) Sumeru
3) Mondstadt
4) Fontaine
5) Inazuma
6) Liyue
7) Natlan
I actually like the cast of Natlan and don't have a problem with the technology, I only had a problem with the wildly new art style and techniques. Well, plus the tedious environment and pushy story.
My least favorite would be Sumeru (I don't think I'll ever finish the exploration there) or Liyue (very boring AQ until the battle at the end, exploration and most of the characters are also nothing special IMO).
The scenery of natlan was good, I liked the saurian designs and abilities, but the story... I honest to god don't remember most of what happened because the hook was so wack. I don't even know where or what the hook was supposed to be.
I will catch hate for this, but as someone who only started a few years ago, Mondstadt was a massive slog and I likely would have quit the game because of it if not for my friend convincing me to push through it. The opening portion just feels...childish. As someone whose not into isekai, all the "Welcome to Teyvat!" and "We need your help to stop the dragon attacking our town!" stuff just really put me off. I don't need Bloodborne grittiness to like a game, but it just felt like it wasn't for me at all. Having separate level requirements for each of the Mondstadt quests was beyond mind numbing. I was so ready to take off to the races and check out the story, but I had to come to a screeching halt to progress through a story I just wasn't enjoying. I get this is mostly just a side effect of Mondstadt and Liyue being the only regions for a while, so they had to keep players entertained in those regions until then, but good lord it just felt frustrating.
Inazuma was the most annoying for me
I would have liked Natlan a lot more if the pacing was better, but the long gaps between map expansions made it frustrating. Same with Nod Krai, despite how much I enjoy the story I feel really bored by the lack of open world content. It took 3 patches to get the first expansion, and it's not about to improve.
Least was Inazuma. Rushed, ripoff Wano. I explored the shit out of it out of grief for Teppei and because I wanted to see the cool shit I could get from the tree
Least liked one is Liyue
