SKINS for five star characters are never free. Just the 4 star characters, but you still do a story quest for both.

There is a difference between reading and bad UX.

I can assure you a new player can easily be misled into thinking this skin would be free upon seeing this screen. It's like the commenters of this thread don't understand the whole concept of UX. There is a huge bias in this thread.

Thank you! I kept looking for this comment. The marketing team absolutely knows what they're doing. They could tell us "By buying this skin, you agree to surrender your first born to the dark overlord Beelzebub within 7-10 business days of birth" and still obscure it enough with flashy graphics and intentional asset placement that loads of people would miss it.

It does sorta come off that way with "gift" in the name and all but they're giving one skin for free soon, there's no reason to expect free skins in general but I get what you're saying. Knowing full well it wasn't free (had the crystals ready for it) when I saw the screen I had a second where I questioned it was paid lol. All the gacha games play on your perception of things, bait you into things, etc., so it wouldn't be surprising if this was the intent. You kinda sign up for it when you decide to play, it's a free game at the end of the day and they are a company trying to maximize profits.

Unfortunately Zenless is the game giving a S rank characters (5*) a Skin for free not Genshin.

EDIT: For the people that are down voting ZZZ has given out 2 non standard S Ranks for free (Harumasa and Zhao) and with this most recent patch Jane Doe (A S rank) got a Skin that is 100% off in the shop even if you don't own her.

Yes, it does look like the outfit is free at first glance. Yes, it is intentional. They do need to market the outfits somehow, but the way Hoyo does this isn't clear that the outfits are paid purchase.

You can find out that it's not free either by completing the quest and getting disappointed, opening the shop and getting disappointed or be a returning player, so you already know that you have to look at the rewards whether they have outfit or not.

Ultimately, commentators for this post seem to care about pointing out something new player won't know, and not deceptive UX/UI design.

Thank you for this comment. Finally someone with an objective stand rather than subjective. The UX/UI is really bad considering that the past event (the one with Durin) featured a free skin upon completion and he's a 5-star character.
