What irks me about the archon quest
I’ve been playing Genshin nonstop for about a week now, starting with Natlan’s story quest, and I think I’ve finally figured out what really vexes me about the story quests from a lore player's standpoint.
For me it's definitely not the amount of the dialogue, it’s the pacing. The character animations during dialogue are painfully slow, the auto dialogue feature drags out, and when you combine that with reused expressions/animations and being forced to wait for animations to finish before you can advance, everything ends up feeling sluggish, makes it feel like a bad Naruto filler ep.
Don’t get me wrong tho, I don’t mind long dialogue sequences or the constant yappity yap yap from the cast, I actually enjoy them. But I genuinely think that small tweaks like faster auto dialogue, snappier animations, or letting dialogue advance independently of animation, would make archon quests feel far more engaging and bearable without cutting any story content. This could be like watching anime instead of trying your best to not fall asleep while the characters are talking.

yup
> everything ends up feeling sluggish,

That's the AQ of this game since the inception of it. People who shill the game unconditionally will deny the existence of this problem and just focus on the quality of the writing.
Here is the thing: If people are impressed by key moments in a story, you can drag everything else in between by miles and their brain will remember it as "I had very good moments here and there, so the entire time I have spent must also be as good". This is why the games of the last decade have spectacular highs, and a lot of slop everywhere else to artificially extend playtime.
Oh dear.
There's a lot to love in this quest -- I mean that genuinely -- but that's also what makes the filler so obvious!
Also i do find myself fast-forwarding by double clicking when i'm heavily locked-in the story when there is "dead time" between the end of a line and the start of another
I guess its annoying if you want to brain off absorb a story through osmosis but... Like maybe the secondary stuff is meaningful too.
Some secondary stuff is meaningful for sure but the storytelling usually focus on secondary stuff or does a secondary stuff the actual main story with little context.
Take the Rerir aq for example, sure the story also focused on him but we went through countless texts and scenes of him in Kaenriah to tell how he fell in love with the wrong girl and how he went to kill those kids but we actually never got the whole picture of why Irmin went mad and how the sinners actually betrayed Deinsleif, this was just mentioned in a couple of lines.
Like the storytelling always leaves the bigger context mysterious or shortly explained while focusing on certain secondary story.
