Three and a half hours...
That's how long I lasted before I had to exit the "special story mode". Zero exploration so far because apparently the new zone has absolutely nothing to do with the AQ. Hoyo, do you honestly think it's a good idea to have players sit through hours of dialogue like this? I zoned out towards the end of the first chapter, saw the title screen and breathed a sigh of relief, only to be thrown into the next chapter of god knows how many more hours of "special story mode". This is very poor game design, I hope it doesn't continue.

You can always quit in the middle you know?.......This time they even make sure to show you "Saving" to give you a hint that your quest progress is saved from time to time not just at the end.
Why can't they just design the AQ so that it gives you obvious opportunities to pause and go do something else? Why does it have to be hours-long dialogue with nothing else? Why release a new zone that has nothing to do with the AQ? I don't know, maybe it does but I've just finished the first chapter and just thrown into the next one and I still have no idea what the new zone looks like.
No, they don't. I was waiting for a break in the story mode to go explore the new zone but it never came. The whole of the first chapter is in this story mode and then they just throw you into the next chapter with no break.
I have no problem with the AQs. I have a problem with having to sit through several hours of story with no break.
Yes they do. Before you get into the "special story mode" nefer LITERALLY warn you that you can't back down after this so go do your stuff before coming back and entering. It's a special story mode, it's supposed to give you story.
Its just stupid design.
the "SAVING" in the lower corner during a black screen wasn't a hint?
Why even do this "special story mode"? Just have this all take place in the normal world and break up cutscenes a bit more with some travel so people can do the quest at any pace they choose. I'm okay with an hour or so of dialogue, but several hours straight is just crazy.
yes?
I'll defend Hoyo for versions 1-3 all day long, those versions were obviously developed by people who love making good games. I even enjoyed most of Fontaine since it was still Genshin at its core, but they've been making very poor decisions since Natlan.
I know there's a pause or savepoint but I need to do something else in the game and I am afraid that I cannot get out even if i close the game since it might make me jump into the quest again
