[No Spoiler] It is so enjoyable to have a main quest where the traveler can speak freely without Paimon jumping in

I'm not going into detail to avoid spoilers, but the way this story quest is presented feels so much better, more mature and more natural than those before. The dialog between the traveler and the doctor is well written, and the traveler's voice acting is spot on.

No hate for Paimon and her cuteness, but making her sit this one out really helped the seriousness of the plot.

I'm not yet done, but what I have seen so far has me immersed more than I've been in years.

Traveller talking to the doctor is logical. You can talk to an enemy before beating the sh*t out of him.

Paimon staying behind is something that can happen, not surprising.

Traveller speaking isn't new either.

Yea exactly like I don't know who even enjoys traveler being mute all the time now they're voices significantly I can understand traveler a lot more as character than before

Also Traveler VAs must be so happy to finally have actual script to voice and not another grunt variation script

Traveler got so much characterization in this quest. What it means to travel, the meaning of being a hero, the satisfaction of their current life, and more.

these sort of open world games love to make the protag a cardboard to have him as the self insert but the story does need to proceed somehow so they have to have a deuterogonist to kinda guide the plot and talk in the stead of the protag. it takes more thinking and more attention to have the protag actually do something because they fear of the illusion of self insert breaking but its honestly so liberating sometimes. what i actually want them to do is give us the paimon version of that. separate the two and give us a paimon pov!!!

fgo did this in lb6 splitting up mash and the master for the first time and having 2 separate story lines for both and lb6 is still considered some of the best writing of the entire video game. i think its probably one of nasus best works

Didn't expect to fall so hard for the fae knights and Morgan especially, brilliant characters all around

Something that's been taking me out lately is *having* a player chosen name in dialogue. I prefer to use canon names where possible and despite that everybody is using nicknames and when they say $PLAYER_NAME voice lines (if applicable) don't match.

The worst though is Wanderer. "Hat Guy" was cute during the whimsy of Simulanka but now it's weird using the silly name in a silly situation.
