Genshin story suffers from being a long game and the devs wanting it to be
Only Medium not Long rant
We have Nicole the lore yapper who was alive since the time of the Three Moon Sisters, and Columbina who can peek at the past with her new powers, but we didnt ask them anything about what really happened to us, our sibling and about all the things we were missing out or not sure of, for no apparent reason.
The answers are literally in front of us, we just have to ask. What’s worse is that we had two chances to do this but we didnt.
While on the moon, the traveler had an inner dialouge with lots of questions about what really happened on how we got to Teyvat, but we never asked her about them. We were SITTING beside her.
We also established direct communication with Nicole and TALKED with her at the end of the quest but we still didnt ask. At least with Zhongli we tried, he just refused to.
It is so stupid and obvious that they are deliberately stalling these answers even though we now have plot devices that can answer them in the game.
And what’s more, instead of looking back on the established lore and answering them, it seems like they are softly and slowly retconnning it, as if they are now writing the story as it goes.
The siblings coming to teyvat like two meteors falling is now a single spaceship with a key that is with us all this time and we are supposed to know that because Paimon knows it even though it only took them 5 years to introduce that.
And that spaceship landed on Nod Krai this whole time, which is totally believable after the fact that the devs said Nod Krai is a break in case of emergency region that they made up to tie up loose ends.
And now, it seems like we never came to teyvat at the same time with our sibling after all. Between that, the two meteors falling, and the opening scene trying to escape with our powers instead of the spaceship, everything feels like fake and just made up now.
Instead, what we got at the end are just Snezhnaya crumbs, which is like waiting for the pizza to come even though there is steak on the fridge. And after what Neuvillete said about Natlan, its hard to trust those crumbs anymore.
End of not long rant
Ps.
AQ was epic, still curious about Varka’s expedition though since he is coming back home now.

This is not about what he thinks of this world, which the sibling implies after the journey, but asking what happened, like the timeline of events.
The way HoYo set up the story gives them the ability to basically change anything they want as needed. Samsaras, dreams, fictional stories, subspace creation, unreliable narration, etc. All of these allow for a fairly fluid writing medium.
It might not feel good, you might not like it, but that’s just how it is. The whole spaceship thing absolutely came out of nowhere but to be fair we really had very little to go on from the opening scenes alone.
What bothers me is the inconsistencies of the universal rules of Genshin Impact. If humans need a spaceship to travel through space, then make that the rule. But Skirk came to Teyvat by herself, no spaceship in her promotional video to be seen. Surtalogi presumably left in a similar fashion. What of Alice and Octavia? Are these people not “human?” And if the traveling twins are only “human” then how can either of them truly be special?
Personally I think it’s a little unclear at this point, and I’m willing to see how HoYo clarifies these inconsistencies. I guess you can’t consider it a plot hole or retcon until the story is done lol. At any point they can explain something away, and while it might not be satisfying (like the spaceship) it establishes the chain of events in the story officially.
Many things get teased early, but the idea behind that is not thought out or entirely absent. That leads to inconsistencies if they decide to pick up that idea later on but the story has developed another way. Most of the time they twist these previous plot points in a way that still fits in, and when it doesn't, it just won't get mentioned again.
