We are NPC.

You will accept quest.

**Resistance is futile.**

Petter17892026-01-14 18:20

The quests will continue until morale improves

Aegillade2026-01-15 05:01

"You are about to enbark on another exciting adventure! Please do not resist."

WhooooCares2026-01-14 18:24

For real. I play mainly for combat and exploration, auto-starting quests and forcing dialogue is a downer on the experience. I don't even really fight enemies when a map first opens, I just want to unlock the waypoints.

Waypoints are like landmines that steal time now.

uskonpuhdistaja2026-01-14 18:31

I despise how required materials etc. are so often in new areas so I'd have to either play through it first or tiptoe around suspicious areas so as not to trigger too much stuff (and failing).

I almost always end up choosing the latter, and even if I dodged quests it's still bad for the exploration experience, since I have to hastily visit new areas instead of getting to enjoy them fully for the first time. All around a shitty system :(

rekage992026-01-14 19:04

I almost wish they would stagger the release of banners and patches. That way we have a week or whatever to go explore and quest without feeling forced to run in and farm stuff like you mentioned (i do that too).

MycosynthWellspring2026-01-15 11:06

I mean... It's not Christmas day. You don't have to do a mad dash to the tree to grab your presents and immediately unpack everything to build the new shiny toy right then and there...

You're a grown person. You can exhibit some restraint to enjoy the new content with some deliberation.

No?

rekage992026-01-15 11:17

Get outa’ here with your “restraint” and not rushing to level the new shiny character.

MycosynthWellspring2026-01-15 11:53

You may not believe me, likely because you're fully gripped by FoMo already, but it is a completely viable option.

It took me around 5 months to catch up with all of Fontaine before I even started building my Furina that I got in 4.2

Waiting a week or two to explore the new area is *nothing.*

Anticipation and proper build up, instead of instant gratification, make a lot of things in life *way more enjoyable.*

Mean-Razzmatazz15542026-01-14 21:49

Oh no the new area has new materials

uskonpuhdistaja2026-01-14 21:56

They could be new materials for the *next* character instead of the current one, or am I seriously supposed to only gather them as I go through the story and properly explore the area? Who knows how long that would delay developing characters and gear

SoC1752026-01-15 11:17

Or just respawn on server reset

htp-di-nsw2026-01-14 18:37

I actually care about the quests and the exploration mechanics, but at 11pm last night, I just wanted to spend my resin on the new artifact domain and go to bed.

I wanted to specifically avoid triggering the quests so I could do them all later and fully appreciate them, but it was like nonstop camera hijacking looking at random shit and an absurd flood of new mechanics.

Please, just let me control when I trigger this stuff!

rekage992026-01-14 19:02

Nothing makes me want to skip dialogue i would otherwise be interested in more than these quests that force start when you get too close.

Bogzy2026-01-14 20:03

If i have the archon quest on focus and go to the new area it shouldnt trigger anything right?

IlluminatedCookie2026-01-15 00:39

Right? :eyes:

Vogies2026-01-14 22:48

I even went to walk on the sea to avoid triggering world quests. I see a teleport waypoint on a small piece of land in said sea, not too far from the beach. I thought, might as well unlock it, since I could barely unlock any waypoints in my attempt to avoid quest triggers. WELL GUESS WHAT I APPROACHED THE WAYPOINT AND WORLD QUEST RELATED TEXT STARTS POPPING UP NICOLE STYLE. I RAN AWAY AS FAST AS I COULD

ChChChillian2026-01-14 23:43

HIDE YO KIDS, HIDE YO WIFE, AND HIDE YO HUSBAND CAUSE THEY BE GANKIN ERRYBODY OUT HERE

NicciHatesYou2026-01-14 23:58

I even got ganked by a kid while walking with Varka and Lauma in the quest

HOLYYYYYY SHHH

Ke5_Jun2026-01-15 00:31

What I did: use Furina (you can also use Kaeya if you don’t have Furina) and walk across the water all the way up to the new boss. That way I avoided every world quest (using the interactive map to check landmasses as I have no statues unlocked). Spend resin on the new boss, call it a day.

I’m pretty sure you can also get to the artifact domain using Furina to skip all quests too. The only one you’re in danger of triggering is the “Climb the Tower” quest but you aren’t whisked into a cutscene for that at least.

IlluminatedCookie2026-01-15 00:38

This is why I took furina and walked down the west side of the map over the water. Still got caught at the tower teleport and some shack on an island but thankfully they were just dialogue I could run past en route to the statues and the domains. (Just wanted the boss to let me in to do my weekly clear after finishing AQ and for my columbina mats but you can’t access if map is covered by the fog)

Aegillade2026-01-15 01:15

This is actually hands down not even close the worst thing in this game. Worse than the FOMO, worse than the gatcha, worse than the pacing. It's this. I seriously don't get how this is still in the game. Just make it so if you wanna trigger a quest you have to talk to a relevant NPC. How has every other game in existence gotten this right but not Genshin?

LiDragonLo2026-01-15 02:06

Wats even worse is i was in the middle of a quest, forced camera movement and couldn't control my charas. Guess wat? There was enemies, active chara died. I revived em and was gonna put them on field for a sec to use their e skill (was my esco for skirk), and before i even had a chance to use the e skill esco was sniped. Like wtf, don't just force me into a cutscene next to enemies to kill my chara, then snipe the chara again right after i revived her

Ravemst2026-01-15 02:06

Dude chill out it’s not that serious. Exploring and random quests go hand in hand. It’s a common trope in adventure games and it’s not like you have to stop exploring you can keep going and do the quests later.

oneireis2026-01-15 02:37

found the hoyo bot

KeiraFenyx2026-01-15 03:28

I get how it can be annoying, but I really don't care that quests autostart. Gives me more of a reason to look around an area and go over it with a fine toothed comb for treasure and primogems. It hasn't even been a full 24 hours since the new patch dropped and I'm already at 100% Exploration for the new zones
