Let's take a look at Nod-Krai's vanguard warriors.
Blasphemy against death? Sure, why not
Heretic of the false moon? They'll be there
Other nations' militaries QUIVER at the thought of going against them

It was a fixed difficulty encounter with a fixed party. Everyone saw the issue.
A full lunar abyss shilling and you still need Aino preferably for ease of team comps.
its not like players are actually using HMC anyway
I'd probably use anemo too if I didn't already have too many anemos
Like she alone could build several weapons of mass destruction by the time she's 18, throwing the entire continent into never ending war from Kuuvakhi powered Gleipnirs and Natlan Source Engine-d Super Fighters
Edit: oops, OP said AC7, so it'll be Stonehenge Defensive
Tbf, All missions with Stonehenge are awesome
*Ages pass..*
*Snow falls...*
The Nasha Town cannon is turreted, and it serves the same role as Stonehenge storywise as well (originally designed for beneficial purposes, co-opted for neferious ones)
# LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Like you have several 5* characters there whose biggest pull argument at times is just "they free up the slot so your Trailblazer can be x form on another team". They don't have a dedicated DPS form yet, they've always been supports with some damage potential, but the functional meta equivalent of HSR's TB is roughly Citlali for Mavuika, Esc9 for Skirk, or Lauma for Nefer, they're that good. I wish the Traveler was up to the same levels of in-game power.
They ***need*** to give out a good welfare unit once in a while or more casual f2p players that don't do any research and plan pulls will struggle a bit too much for player retention.
In Genshin, your welfare units are Bennett/Sucrose/Xingqiu/Fischl. Old as fuck so a lot of people will have them maxed. Pretty common on banners. In the monthly shop. Top of the meta outside of XQ. Thats the f2p lifeline--the TB equivalent in that sense. Shittier welfare units, but your first batch of supports are still top of the meta 5 years in vs strong welfare units that just end up power crept anyway; Ratio was also free and strong at the time remember?
There's no real difference. Every successful gacha system is meticulously designed to keep the standard f2p player that wants to do well enough in end game *just* strong enough to make them feel like pulling one more unit/constellation will push them over the edge, while not making the free shit so strong that they feel no incentive to pull. And, well HSR and Genshin are both undeniably successful.
I will say, the shitty welfare units in Genshin are at least valuable cheerleaders in IT. Auto equip an unleveled Scrolls set on your free C0 Kachina, maybe give her a Fav lance, and she's already at 95% power + is a decent pull if you get her from a companion card. I kind of wish one of HSR's 3 endgame modes made the increasing number of worthless fodder units useful the way IT does. Do we need 3 (AA gives no pulls so I don't count it as a real mode, its just a for-fun thing to me) different flavors of "AV manipulation, the gamemode?" Idk I'd prefer some variant of CW that replaces PF, which is sort of...just shitty lol. MoC is the vanilla, AS gets all the new boss mechanics that vary from interesting (1v1 Hoolay) to egregious shill, PF is just lame. They throw the Ruan Mei Beetle or the brainrot monkeys in MoC whenever they're shilling an AoE unit anyway.
even in the most recent IT where my roster is strongest (pyro/hydro/electro) out of the entire selection, my older units (Raiden, Yae, Ayato, Keqing, Childe, Yoi, Diluc) all pretty much just sat as a 4th slot deadweight while my actually viable units carry them with a 3 man comp (Hu Tao, Varesa, post-buff Venti, Mualani, Neuvi) or even a 1 man comp in Neuvi's sense.
IT doesn't make me feel like my characters are being used, it makes me realize how many of them are absolute dead weight that i only bring on because the theater requires me to have 4 units at all times. it's pyro season and i didn't even bring my triple crowned Xinyan because she's just worthless. the trial Mavuika did the highest damage in the entire IT because powercreep on her level is just insane compared to my relatively okay investment units.
like do i think IT is a better use of old characters than the likes of CW? yeah, cause if i didn't have my characters in CW i would just get to use a trial version anyway. they suck, and because it's not a real endgame mode i don't really lose anything even if they do, but is that so much worse than IT when im just dragging them along for the ride because the mode is made so easy due to it being made with non-standard team comps in mind?
I'm glad! I guess there was enough backlash from the Rerir fight for them to change things.
