I learned the hard way (had to repeat like 20 minutes worth of dialogue) that whenever there is a black screen with "saving.." You can take a break, when you log in again you'll find yourself outside the quest instance and can interact with a light and it'll bring you right where you stopped.
Learned this back in 6.1 between Rerir and Nefer's story, it was worth taking that risk since it made it enjoyable.

Yep, had to quit partway into the Nefer one too. Made plans with a friend, ended up delayed by an hour because I \*assumed\* there'd be a \*SINGLE\* stopping point... nope, none. So I had to redo the whole chess sequence the next time I played.
This time around I just force closed the game slightly after the "Act 7 Completed" text, and then did all of 8 in one go this morning too to avoid any other issues. Apart from this seemingly being a recurring thing now where they just have 0 physically in the world and not an instance story now, it was insanely good.

The trick is, to do it in coop. I had my alt enter my main's world then kicked it out. So I am in coop mode while not really in co-op with anyone. This way, quests won't trigger.
