More likely is people ran a dump of the altered code in the new patch to compare it with the pre-patch code and saw there was a function to change an asset in the login screen.

it MOVES NOW!!! In 1.0 and I think up until the AQ it would sit still in the sky as a husk of the frost moon, even though the sun would move across the sky as time passed. The moon is now orbiting properly

It is what I meant. It's a picture of a husk, the frostmoon scions know the moon goddess is dead but pray to its body anyways, but were actually praying to a picture of the body. I think? when I try to get THIS specific about it it's a little fuzzy what the scions actually believed, although maybe on a scion-to-scion basis it's a little fuzzy canonically too.

Both are the irl moon. The old moon is the one you can see from the southern hemisphere while the "new" one is how you see it from the northern hemisphere.

the diameter of the earth (12,742km) is negligible compared to the distance from the earth to the moon (384,400km), which means it has an almost zero effect on the viewing angle.
edit: the only difference you'd see is the flat 'texture' being rotated, which is clearly not the case here. A simple google search can tell you this (and you can clearly see the crab claw pattern too)

There is a physical barrier that stops you from leaving Teyvat and it is fairly low, just barely above the clouds. And that barrier stops you from accessing both the False Sky and the real universe? Or maybe the barrier only stops you if you try to go to the real universe...
And the False Sky is a vast, empty void filled with mainly just Stella Fortuna (the "stars") and, now, the real Frost Moon.
