It’s funny, because while playing 6.3 I kept thinking a lot about the end of Amphoreus. Columbina is the character HSR would have liked Cyrene to be; Genshin just executed it better, by building the relationship between the MC and Columbina over 4 patches, unlike Cyrene, who was rushed in a single patch and ends up feeling very forced.
Genshin 6.3 and HSR 3.7 are actually very comparable: two end-of-arc patches, almost like movies, mostly just dialogue. And Genshin managed to keep me engaged until the very end. I wasn’t bored, the story progressed well. HSR 3.7, on the other hand, was completely unbearable: repetitive dialogue, a story that doesn’t move forward for 7 hours, all while you already know within the first 10 minutes exactly what’s going to happen.
And i’m not a hater of Amphoreus. 3.4 is my fav patch in HSR by far and were Amphoreus should have ended

As someone who just finished a very similarly positioned ZZZ arc, same. They SO wanted people to care about Ye Shungguang, but they didn't do a fraction of the legwork to make it land that they did with Columbina, or even Sandrone.

Anyone on this post is asking for spoilers so imo it's not needed here.
Tl;dr is Teyvat originally had 3 moons with a god assigned to each by the dragon king (ruler before HP). Dragon king leaves Teyvat and puts 3 moon gods in charge while he's absent. HP arrives and takes over, dragon king returns and war breaks out. He no longer trusted the 3 moon goddesses and imprisoned them. War ends with HP as the defacto ruler and 2 of the 3 moons destroyed (the frost moon survived). The one which wasn't destroyed gets pushed out beyond the fake sky (hinted at in 1.0, confirmed in 5.3). HP creates 4 shades to replace the role the moon goddess served.
Long time later a new moon goddess is born for the frost moon (eventually becomes a harbinger which we saw after they revealed them all in 2.3). It's assumed the original 3 were dead but they were actually trapped in the prison still in a sort of limbo. They finally die shortly after this scene takes place when new frost moon god frees them and inherits all 3 of their powers.
