Why does traveler not wear the new outfit in non-prerendered scenes in quests?

The ones making the cutscenes didn't make the model a variable that takes whatever is equipped. Within a world quest the Traveler switches outfits in cutscenes. It's a mess.

Genshin backporting fixes into older content is nearly unheard of. At the very least I expect future content to not behave this way. Especially if this is the route they're taking for graphical updates for models, which would kinda suck

it took us until Luna 4 for them to realize that Electro Traveler was bugged and didn't work with ER%. they released close to 5 years ago, so that tells you their priorities.

Pretty sure the traveler that appeared in these quest make uses of the fifth slot in your team that is mostly used for trial characters

Which is annoying because back in the 1.x era, it would actually use your traveler instead of some weird trial model. You could tell because if your energy was full, the lights would pulse during conversations. I dont know why they changed it.

They realised most ppl don't build their travelers. And when we use them in a fight, it just wouldn't work out for those people.

I think you are right and this is the most plausible answer. They have 2 versions (or more) of the Traveler to accommodate trial versions and they are in principle fully separate game objects. I think they forgot (or, hopefully not, can't) make it so that the outfit of the trial traveler does not automatically change depending on the outfit of the actual traveler.

Very rarely, most of the time it's your traveler as can be easily checked by switching their element. Mine is set to Anemo, because it's the most aesthetically pleasing highlight color, and he's indeed Anemo in all these world quests. The main story though does love to switch him to pyro or hydro.

I’m assuming a lot of the cutscenes were done with before the implementation of the new outfit, so hopefully, next patch will have them wearing it in cutscenes

I'm not getting my hopes up. Seems like the quests in the new map area don't implement it. Maybe if people make a fuss about it in the feedback forms.

maybe outfit was made later in production and they didn't test it. Next patches will probably all include both

Since I think that's a Fontaine Quest.
So Hoyo would have to go redo all old cutscene, and I don't wanna deal with how big that update will be

These quests canonically occur before they get the new outfit.
Though it's actually because older quests weren't programmed to account for the traveller having multiple outfits.

For me, when I’m doing one of the latest quests in the new Nodkrai area, the outfit keeps alternating during dialogue cutscenes. Sometimes it shows the new outfit, and sometimes it doesn’t. Keep in mind that I had already equipped the new Traveler outfit before starting the quest. Photo below if you want to see it. Maybe there still bug that they haven't totally fix.
