HOLY COPE
I never make a post here but I'm seeing people saying "power of friendship ending" as if we didn't plan everything for 4 hours straight (act 7 and 8 length) and didn't lost 1 comrade. Also the glitch at the ends hints something suspicious (maybe he's alive or someone's else gonna intervine). Imo this was the peak of nod krai and it was very well written. They kept character relevant for 4 patches straight, not like other so called modern gachas who throw away a character after a waifu bait story patch 😭.
I've tried to avoid spoilers, thanks for reading

Not relevant to your main point, but simply spending hours in a story doesn't mean that it is packed with meaning or provides satisfactory build-up. An average Dora the Explorer special takes 40 minutes to narrate what you could fully summarize in a sentence.
Imagine if you deleted all of that and replaced it with Traveler psyching himself up out of anger by yelling and glowing like a Dragon ball character for 4 hours straight. It would be meaningful and it would be a build-up. What do you think is missing in this scenario?
Because if "Power of Friendship" is what you got from that I'm going to have to assume you either cannot read or had some kind of very specific epileptic episode from hearing the word "friend" and temporarily blacked out.
If anything, the power scaling was a bit inconsistent but that’s all. I’m usually pretty critical of the story but this was a good ‘finale’ 🤷♂️
Planning and teamwork is a huge factor + the people involved are no scrubs either.
Like bro Grand Master of the Knights, DESCENDER, 4th Harbinger,6th Harbinger,7th Harbinger, AN ANGEL, and A true Trilune Goddess, a Fae, Nefer who was blessed by Thoth, and many more the people involved are not some weaklings lol.
I wouldn't say that Dottore was counting on egoistic nature of people that much. And I wouldn't say that other characters had to make a choice between their own interests and their friendship with Traveler. All of them was personally interested in defeating Dottore, they doesn't do it for Traveler. The only person who could betray their friends in order to gain something was Traveler themselves.
>A Combined Energy Attack is another perk of believing in said power. Taken more literally, the Power of Friendship may be used as a required element of some magical effect, such as a Care-Bear Stare or a Circle of Friendship. Heroes, especially the Magnetic Hero, usually spend the first few episodes building this group of loyal followers. Sometimes it can go too far; Heroes fall prey to becoming a Martyr Without a Cause and allies could be False Friends. Contrast In the End, You Are on Your Own, in which case Friendship becomes less helpful. This trope is a key element of buddy pictures.
The part you mentioned is part of it, but usually not what's mocked.
"go to hell"
I think Nod Krai's AQs, while not without flaws, have been the best AQs so far with the current one being the best.
It actually feels like for once Hoyo had the whole arc planned out from start to finish, even if the writing itself was inconsistent at times.
The story goes out of its way to show that yes every one plays apart in getting the characters to the goal.
But if the mc or anyone else makes any mention of their friends or family, suddenly is power of friendship and bad.
Because the idea that these characters can actually use teamwork and be unified as a group is so foreign to some people.
Like...that's a literal core mechanic of the game, having a party work together and be stronger together than the sum of their parts but no apparently it's wrong to use team work and rely on it even though humans are social creatures and teamwork and cooperation are what has allowed humanity to progress as far as it did.
Edit: Y'all need to chill, lmao. I never said the Natlan quest was bad. I was simply saying that unlike Nod-Krai, where everything was planned and calculated, Natlan depended on the will of the people, which, while totally valid, is not as... tangible, for a lack of better words.
Names, memories, ambitions and prayers are all components that make up a huge aspect of the world's power system.
Venti claims he's weak from a lack of involvement.
Fontaine's Oratrice converted to believe and desire for justice in court into a power source to shatter the divine throne.
Wisdom and knowledge in sumeru can be tampered with and become like a poison that actual affects the land and the living creations.
Inazuma revealed that visions were partially brought forth through ambitions.
The power system of genshin has always relied on turning these abstract concepts into power, so I'd just assume the idea of natlan's desire and determination to survive would fall under the same category.
Or do people forget that.....
Traveler used 100 visions powered by Inazuma's ambitions.
Traveler used the combined processing power of all of sumeru.
Focalors used the fervent belief of all her followers for 500 years.
All as power sources to over come their final bosses.
Nod Krai was done wayyy better.
They did it even better by not pulling out shounen bs like together strong or angry make you stronger. It is all strategy from the start.
Inazuma- uses the ambitions and wishes of the vision users to rival ei's will.
Sumeru - uses the wisdom of sumeru's populace, to give traveler the ability to over come and out think scara.
Fontaine- harness the desire and passion for justice to destroy a divine throne and grant neuvi the power to forgive Fontaine's sin.
Natlan -harnesses the hope and desire of the people for the strength to end the war.
It's always been like this.
Names, memories, dreams and all that all affect and shape the world in some way or shape.
natlan we hope for power of 6 heroes when hoyo don't even tell us properly what it could do
also after gather 6 heroes it simple show a cutscreen they gather, tell chuunibyou quote and pryo archon unlock her power of scarlet flame, and it even more ridiculous on final battle when those heroes just stay outside the abyss and sending there power of hope inside to help us fighting
after all power of friendship is essential in story of fantasy games, but how you tell the story make it good or bad
Inazuma has 100 ambitions from the visions to grant the traveler power to rival a God's will.
Sumeru has us use the wisdom of an entire populace to process and analyze a false god to over come his predicting ability of our moves.
Fontaine has a machine built specifically to harness the passion and desire of Justice from the people to shatter the divine throne.
And finally natlan uses the hope and determination of the people as means to grant power to the archon and traveler to end the war.
It's been done in half the nations.
Abstract concepts and such are also well established to be able to manipulate the world. Memories, names, ambitions and so on are all confirmed to affect the world. Heck sumeru whole story was how forbidden knowledge literally caused damage to the environment and left people sick with chronic illness.
I just don't like how natlan shows the concept of that through the story in a cringey way
additionally, that moment where the 6 heroes and Paimon talk about what they think of Traveler, that shit literally was what they said about him when they were making the Ancient Name for him.
*Mondstadt* - power of friendship purifies dvalin
*Liyue* - power of friendship turns back the dead god, osial
*Inazuma* - power of friendship breaks through the archon's isolation
*Sumeru* - power of friendship frees the archon
*Fontaine* - power of friendship saves the nation from drowning and warms the heart of the Dragon sovereign
If they actually played the quest, they would know that Dottore is most likely alive lol.
all those things we thought Nicole had done (barrier around scions, breaking the vase) turning out to be Columbina was fantastic
Unless you're talking about braindead tiktok people.
Welcome to the Natlan enjoyers world

I think as I got older, I personally learnt to appreciate the nuance of the paragon and those more upbeat stories.
Like all those dark stories that try to be realistic and 'mature' end up feeling just cynical and immature in the sense they ignore all the positives of the world and focus only on the dark aspects of humanity.
This is that one type of thing that is literally NOT TRUE, but somehow a large portion of the public has been fed into believing and now is leveraged conveniently to dismiss the topic without argumenting
And yes, many "modern gatchas" are not good at all managing new and old characters sadly 😓
Some people just love to complain.
It's a PEGI 12 game. I'm not saying y'all are playing a child game, but it is a child friendly game. That's why some tropes are positive and need to teach "good things" to kids. Working together = good is something you see everywhere.
Now it's not even badly written, they had a plan, it worked out.
And in the end if Dottore lost it was because >!he didn't think people's nature could change, and that people without "divinity" could never matter in the grand scheme of things!<
Honorable mention to Wanderer and Nefer. They did a good job
Its common knowledge in official military that you must rely and depend on your friend. "Also no one left behind" Is a thing.
Columbina had to walk thousands of years back in time and plan everything from the future for us to win 💀
Don‘t expect people online to have media literacy.
In my eyes it felt like the cliché of the power of friendship trope. The dialogue was not good, the vas, especially dottore executed the voices excellently but the actual direction was cringe to me. It was written like it came from a 12yo, but everyone can like what they want
Personally I'd rather consume simple concepts like power of friends with very well execution on story telling than it's reversed.
