Things to know before the AQ:
No spoilers here, I haven't even finished it myself. However, for anyone looking to do the Archon Quest, keep these things in mind:
1. The quest is about 5 hours long, without breaks. If you want to do this continuously (for the best experience), you will need to set aside this amount of time
2. As far as I'm aware, the icon for saving will be a blue flower petal falling into water on a black screen. You will recognize this when you see it. They all look slightly different. Also, I would assume it saves at the breakpoint between Acts VII and VIII, but I haven't gotten that far so I'm not certain.
If any of this information is wrong, please correct me and I'll edit the post.

2. The blue flower is only for a particular aspect of the quest, not for every checkpoint. It's easier to keep an eye on when it says "saving" in the lower right hand corner.
Thanks for the info about the blue flower. I've seen it several times in act VII, but I'm not to act VIII yet so I'm not sure if it goes away. Whenever it goes, I get a lag spike which shows me my game is saving, since my computer is kind of slow. I've also only seen the saving icon once so far.
To reassure you though, there's no way you'll take 6 hours for the first act. During that time I took breaks to make dinner and also make this post, among other things.
