I liked that you could see bright spots where Mondstadt, Liyue Harvor and Inazuma city were. However it was a bit confusing that area south o Iiyue (blacklif forge?) Was white as if covered by snow.
BredMaker48692026-01-15 04:26
Clouds, they exist. But it would be interesting to know how much of this globe is discovered at this moment.
Isk4nd4r_rd2026-01-15 04:32
Wait you are right, im an idiot.
TetraNeuron2026-01-15 11:00
If Khaenriah & the Spiral Abyss is underground, how can "to the stars and the abyss" mean the same thing?
Could the other side of the planet be some kind of massive cup shaped-indent where "underground" is exposed to the outside
BleedingUranium2026-01-15 06:37
[Here's a post that ups the brightness/etc and highlights the nations.](https://old.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/1qct3d7/huge_spoilers_for_luna_iv_teyvat_map_new_areas/) It's so incredibly cool to finally have a perspective like this!
The Blackcliff Forge area looks to be perfectly (annoyingly and certainly deliberately) covered by a cloud.
Gazzorppazzorp2026-01-15 12:50
There's a bright light in the dark sea, way on the right.
Ordinary_Divide2026-01-15 13:34
inazuma
Gazzorppazzorp2026-01-15 13:53
Yeah, compared with the map and that would be it. Inazuma is slanted away from the other lands.
Talithea2026-01-15 08:56
I am surprised the planet is this small.
We are talking about a continent as big as the British Isles with 30 million inhabitants. Only thing I can think of is that whole space is a pocked dimension enclosed in one of Alice's shiny toys.
Byakubayashi2026-01-15 16:20
Well, in lore, maybe. The in-game Teyvat is like my city.... it's about 6km (if my memory doesn't fail me) from farthest east to farthes west
Edit: Okay, it's bigger, but still pretty much like some major cities. Mine is about 10km\*10km
Talithea2026-01-15 22:01
For real life distances I use the distance that a person walks in a in-game day, discovering that between Mondstadt and Liyue Harbour, you arrive at Dawn Winery in the first night, and at Wangshu Inn on the second. A person can walk around 4 to 6 km per hour, meaning a non-stop 24h distance of 96~144 km.
If we take 3 days between the two cities in game, it means the actual distance between Mondstadt and Liyue Harbour is on the low-balling of 288~432 km, with a medium of around 350 km.
For the sake of gameplay, the open world is *heavily condensed* and I take as preoper lore side the gargantuan dimensions of domains. Enkanomiya, that continues endlessly with huge voids and pillars, can be considered a small fraction of Teyvat. Or how the Chasm in Liyue at some point was the workplace of "hundreds of thousand of people".
I know, I am blabbering a lot, but I was very interested in how actually big is Teyvat, and for now I was able to figure out a UK sized chunk of lands counting shy of 30 million people.
KineticKurt2026-01-15 04:35
The whole fake virtual sky back then gave me Patema Inverted vibes, I mean that would have been interesting
rekage992026-01-15 04:36
I love being correct. So many people were pissy and arguing about teyvat being flat or something other than a globe.
Once again, if any of them read this: suck it
ImGroot692026-01-15 04:40
love how people say, how is the island stick so close together? forgetting the fact that our irl Earth used to look like that as well during Pangaea era lol.
fat_mothra2026-01-15 05:38
I think what most people were picturing was a snow globe, because of the false sky
agressiveobject4202026-01-15 17:41
Now I'm wondering where tf I heard the theory that teyvat was a spaceship, because I believed it was actual lore.
Alzusand2026-01-15 04:46
The whole planet in game would be like 3km in diameter 😅
I know ita bigger in lore but its funny asf.
PrimarchVulk4n2026-01-15 07:26
Yea m'y first thought when seeing that was asking myself how fucking small that planet was
BleedingUranium2026-01-15 07:27
While not 3km, it's not *that* far off, using the (very) non-canon in-game map scale.
Doing a quick check (with quest distances I happen to have available), the in-game distance from Mondstadt City (Adventurer's Guild) to Caravan Ribat, both of which we can see in this shot, is 6.1km. Someone good with math and measuring should be able to work out the diameter (in "fake" distance) of the planet from that alone.
One of the longest distances would be Mondstadt City to the docks at the south end of the holiday resort in Natlan, which is 14.7km.

Using the very accurate eyeballing and fingers-over-the-screen method, the planet is maybe somewhere around... 40 kilometres in diameter?

As for actual canon scale, we very rarely get any meaningful info, but there is one I know of for sure. In [Perilous Trail](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/End_of_the_Line_(Quest\)), Bosacius says that they're to "hold the line at 100 kilometres outside The Chasm at all costs!".
Meaning 100km is sufficient distance to at minimum protect Liyue Harbour, and probably more so keep the threat contained to the Chasm area (so quite a lot more than 100).

The in-game distance from the entrance (as in, where the path enters from the east) of the Chasm area to that big square where the Rite of Descension was held is pretty much exactly 1km; if we measure from the centre of the Chasm it's about 1.5km.
Meaning if the canon scale was a whole 100x larger, that would still *barely* work for the "100km" dialogue, and even then only if we measure from the centre of the Chasm and assume they were holding "not far from Liyue Harbour" rather than "containing things to the Chasm area" (the latter making more sense in context).

So it's likely *more* than 100x larger, probably 200x or 300x larger, roughly speaking.
These would make the "3km" between Mondstadt City and Liyue Harbour into 600km/900km respectively, while the "5km" east-west width of Inazuma would be 1000km/1500km (real Japan is about 1900km).

If we were to *assume* "40km" planet diameter and 300x scale, that would be 12000km, almost ***exactly*** the same size as Earth; 200x would give us 8000km, two-thirds the size.
clouddog-1112026-01-15 11:51
the devs nefer fail to surprise me
SomebodyUnown2026-01-15 19:52
There are continents other than Teyvat. It was mentioned in the latest Archon quest even, I believe in one of the documents somewhere.
Regulus2422026-01-15 04:58
For all we know the other side of the planet is blasted away
Frustrella2026-01-15 05:42
Like Adventure Time's planet?
Dismal_Shoulder_13992026-01-15 05:59
actually I doubt it considering how we cant see natlan and knowing how far it stretches westward theres just gonna be a smallish ocean between there and mondstatd
beautheschmo2026-01-15 12:03
Doesn't that kinda break lore though?
For a pretty long time, it was heavily implied that Teyvat (the continent) was only a part of Teyvat (the planet), and there were more large landmasses beyond the known world in the Dark Sea (not actually a sea), which a significant portion of Teyvat's population fled to after the Archon Wars.
But this globe doesn't really leave much room for that to actually be the case. Some of the dark sea does exist underneath Teyvat as well (Enkanomiya), but this map doesn't really leave much room for, say, the kingdom built by the seelies or anything else like that, it's kinda disappointing to me tbh because i imagined so much more in the world.
Dismal_Shoulder_13992026-01-15 14:11
yeah it seems they retconned it which sucks, but it makes more sense as to why Varka was so stressed about taking the knights to nodkrai, knowing how close mond was to it
I do wonder what they'll end up doing for the dark sea, unless they meant space by the dark sea or a subspace
NeoLedah2026-01-15 09:46
why? The other side is the abyss
Moedwed2026-01-15 12:14
Iirc the parts of the world not under Teyvat's scope is called the Dark sea in which despite its name also included some landmasses. It is said that that part of Teyvat is home to the remains of Losers of the Archon war and the seelies
Talithea2026-01-16 00:47
Dark Sea lands and seas and stuff

I stopped playing in Nathan, is it still worth trying to play it again??

yeah, the main story is pretty solid fun. the live service part is the divisive one.
mat0509_2026-01-15 05:24
What is the "live service"?

The planet is a hollow planet because Enkanomiya and the Anchent dragon lands are both under the surface + other locations.

That's just how the False Sky look like from the opposite side
Alpha06Omega092026-01-15 07:08
We are inside the false sky my man
master089652026-01-15 06:17
Why would people think otherwise,is it because the phrase “four corners of tevyat”
LeafWings232026-01-15 06:22
This might be a stupid question, but we are still looking at the false sky here, right? Because the moon got pulled inside? Or did the moon just shatter the whole false sky irreparably?
ConfidentFox76132026-01-15 08:05
The false sky did shatter but it regenerated again
Eroica_Pavane2026-01-15 06:27
Is the planet absolutely huge compared to the moon? Compare how big Teyvat looks like in this scene vs how the moon looks like when Varka is glancing up at it at similar time.
beautheschmo2026-01-15 11:49
Yes, it is *much* larger than, eg; the apparent size of the earth from the moon irl.
Realistically, assuming the moon was a body naturally held together by gravity, it would be well within the roche limit of Teyvat and break apart into a ring system (and also fuck up Teyvat itself really badly in the process, the tidal forces would be pretty extreme at this apparent distance), so it's either a smaller mass body with artificial gravity and propulsion (possibly also true for Teyvat itself), or ~~the devs don't understand physics concepts~~ Teyvat has its own laws.
But it does look cool so whatever.
notolo6322026-01-15 06:29
Jokes on you its actually a flat disk
115_Charges_FC2026-01-15 07:22
And then there is me who thought Teyvat is like Amphoreus
Artistic_Cable62182026-01-15 09:44
Well, Skirk trailer show us how Teyvat looks…
Martian_on_the_Moon2026-01-15 07:37
I am bit confused here regarding the firmament.
I always >!thought that firmanent was put on Tevyat planet only, considering that the hole Mavuika made didn't felt that far away!<
Are these >!fake stars we see from the moon? I guess so since we don't see shattered moons but in that case shouldn't we see hole made by Mavuika from there? Or it was on other side of the Tevyat at the moment?!<
Lubinski642026-01-15 09:28
I don't think the fake sky is supposed to have clearly defined dimensions, the holes Mavuika and >!Dottore open in it are not on it's literal edge but rather inside it, same way as abyss rifts than can open literally anywhere on the surface. !<
The other shattered moons should still be outside the fake sky (The game says only the frost moon was flung outside but clearly the shattered moons are not visible inside the sky either until Mavuika does her thing)
I think that whether something is outside or within the fake sky is not a matter of distance but if it was allowed to enter it or not.
-Levyy2026-01-15 07:37
after the quest, can we still go back up there?
agressiveobject4202026-01-15 17:39
Doesn't seem like it
SummerSalmon882026-01-15 07:43
Tell me we can go back there again! It's a nice place to log out or AFK or unwind...
PumpkinBrilliant2026-01-15 07:47
the land showing on the planet teyvat should be sumeru right?
agressiveobject4202026-01-15 17:45
The day time part yeah, as well as Fontaine up north
AnonUSA3822026-01-15 07:53
Isnt this supposed to be fake though? Didnt columbina say that traveler had yet to see the true earth when she asked him if his feelings would remain the same?
Artistic_Cable62182026-01-15 09:45
I think she talked about more conceptual things
DrkrZen2026-01-15 07:57
Just like real life!

The dark side of teyvat… is it the dark sea?
agressiveobject4202026-01-15 17:47
Omg does that mean we have dark sea at home? (Earth)
rain080292026-01-15 12:07
What's the glowing dot next to Teyvat? Just a close star?
agressiveobject4202026-01-15 17:47
In the same way the sun is a close star yeah
Traveler78982026-01-15 12:43
Soo Teyvat is indeed a pangea continent
EmphasisEast84282026-01-15 13:07
My major problems is that in the open world map is 100% flat. I know this is just technical engine limitation problem of the game but I would like if they able to make the open world also round like the old Final Fantasy games I used to play.
Lareo1442026-01-15 14:39
welp this is how genshin gonna last 30 years
DevolayS2026-01-15 15:13
For whatever reason I immediately started looking for hidden Goku somewhere on the screenshot
TheVJElectro2026-01-15 16:24
Funny thing is that judging by the image the curvature of Teyvat is approximately 30 or 40 kilometres long, which means it is 1000 times smaller than Earth's.
TrumpChildOnahole2026-01-15 18:31
If you showed 1.x players this they'd have an aneurysm
A_Bowl_of_Ramen2026-01-15 19:02
I'm more curious about the dark side of Teyvat tbh. Could it just be the ocean in the dark side or more continents?
