Why are the so many structures with holes in the new Nod-Krai Region?

Hey i just got to the new extension of Nod -Krai (6.3) and I noticed that a lot of stones, trees and flowers with holes . So i wanna ask if there is a reason for that is that actually a thing that can happen in reality. I personally think they look very cool this new map is definitely very pretty.

My friend told me is probably just a design choice or that is something to do with kuuvahki. But idk I just wanted to see what other people think about it. I'm probably over analyzing this, but I just think that's so cool.
