Now imagine this
Phanes + 4 shades are fighting Nibelung + 3 weapnised moons, the fight is so intense and almost tied with Nibelung having a slight edge due to the abyssal powers. But then suddenly two moons shatter on their own and the third siezes to function, meanwhile in the prison Columbina successfully managed to take the authority of the 3 moons fixating them on the frost moon. Rendering the Eternal and Iridescent moons powerless (thus crumbling) while the frost moon becomes masterless thus stops working, the people later think that Phanes destroyed the moons while in truth it was Columbina with the agreement of the other sisters, which caused Nibelung to lose the war btw, Phanes throws the remaining moon outside Teyvat which proves he has no intentions of destroying any of them

Sonnet says this to Columbina when they find the Irridescent Moon's marrow:
"The moment moon shattered, my body began to split apart piece by piece... like i was being cut into pieces by a thousand blunt blades."
But they were already dying when Columbina freed them. Meaning shattering of the moons happened pretty much immediately after Columbina freed them otherwise her body wouldn't survive long enough to witness that event.
Also I don't think HP needed to "prove he didn't want to destroy the moons", he had every right to destroy them when they were wielded by the abyss-corrupted, potentially abyss-controlled, dragon as a weapon. The abyss was the main threat they were created to defend against, and now they're in its hands? No excuses are needed, the destruction was justified. Better deal with the consequences of the loss of the moons than with the consequences of the abyss potentially getting a puppet on the heavenly throne.
Exactly, HP could and had reasons to destroy the moons but he didn't destroy the frost moon, why? Maybe he knew the moons were mindless weapons and their true owners were traped and powerless to resist? So he had no intentions to destroy them as he did to the dragons..
Also there are no signs of the moons being touched by the abyss power aside of the Iridescent moon which was later merged with the abyss keeping it from dying a little while longer
Precisely then why just leave one while destroying two. After all Nibelung could have used the Froost moon as well why leave it?
>I doubt it. Why would 2/3 crumble and 1/3 just stop working but stay intact? All 3 sisters met the same fate at the same time.
OP's theory is they shattered because they lost their authority. Frost moon didn't because all authority was hidden inside it.
On the moons reflection place is also time. If you are at the same place with someone you are also at the same time.
Yes like you said All 3 sisters met the same fate at the same time but also because Columbina was there with them there she also ascended to Trilunar goddess at the exact same moment in time (At the start of the War of Funerary Flame). The unshattered Frost moon was inactive because Columbina was the Trilunar Moon Goddess with all authorities and she was slumbering.
If you duel someone who holds two swords, and manage to break one of them before defeating the opponent themselves, would you go back and break the other sword too? My assumption was that the moons were broken during the fighting, and HP didn't need to break the third because the war was over before it was necessary.
