Genshin gave us free characters through permanent events that can utilize the mechanics of every region...except Nod-Krai.
Liyue: has a number of puzzles that require the use of Geo constructs to solve.
Genshin: "Oh don't worry! Geo Traveler has you covered. They can even put down multiple rocks at once!"
Sumeru: introduces Dendro, an entirely new element at the time, into the playing field. Some puzzles now require Dendro to solve.
Genshin: "Here, have a free Collei on us! In case you'd rather have the Traveler on another element, that is."
Fontaine: introduces Ousia and Pneuma mechanics.
Genshin: "Have Lynette, she'll fill all your Ousia needs! And don't worry about Pneuma, Hydro Traveler will take care of the other half for you."
Natlan: introduces Nightsoul mechanics and Phlogiston.
Genshin: "...and we wouldn't want you to miss out on how it all works! Take Kachina with you, and climb those walls like it's nobody's business!"
Nod-Krai: introduces Moonsigns and Lunar Reactions. Some enemies, much like past regions, become much harder unless dealt with via these methods.
Genshin: "Here! Have Aino! She puts your Moonsign on Ascendant Gleam!"
...okay, but can she perform Lunar Reactions?
"Nope! Just a decent Hydro applicator!"
The Traveler just >!touched Columbina!<. Can they perform Lunar Reactions now?
"Whaaaat? What are you talking about."
So you're telling me I would have had to roll for Ineffa, Flins, Lauma, or Nefer. Or roll for Columbina now to make *every* Geo, Dendro, and Electro do Lunar Reactions.
Genshin: "you know you want toooooo"
Hoyo, this is a load of crap and you know it.

Aino is at least a very solid addition to the roster regardless of the gimmick.
Yes, I agree with you on the Aino part, but why break the trend? I'm glad we're getting Illuga on the banners in the future but there's no reason they could have made Lunar Reactions available to us sooner.
If not: there's your answer.
Admittedly I am kinda taking this from a combat perspective--it seems a little unfair when you take having Kachina available to fight those weird purple enemies that die quicker when hit with someone with Nightsoul abilities. Of course, you don't NEED Kachina to fight them, but it can make things easier.
Likewise some enemies in Nod Krai scream "I go down easier of you do Lunars on me" and by all means we don't NEED Lunars to kill them but it would make things easier if we had someone. Which we don't. (From permanent events, anyways.)
Either that or I need to put Aino in my team more. Look, I don't care about all the downvotes, I'm totally open to being wrong.
You don't consume Nightsoul, you consume Phlogiston.
