Is it normal I’m discouraged being so far behind the rest of because I’m still going through old content?

With the announcement of the travelers getting new outfits in addition to all the crazy new lore, I have to say that I’m feeling left out. I only started back playing a few months ago, and so far I’ve made it through Mondstat, Liyue, Inazuma, Chenyu Vale, and only just reached the chasm.

I’ve been enjoying the game a lot, but it sucks being the odd one out while the rest of the community has fun with new characters, areas, lore, etc. On top of missing the new outfits since I’m so far behind story wise. By the time I catch up, all of this new stuff will be done and dusted. Everyone else will be looking forward to new stuff while I’m still playing catch up…

Not sure why I’m posting this but just wanted to put this somewhere, thanks for reading.

How are you left out? You will get there eventually, it is permanent. Just play the game as you enjoy it

I returned to the game after a break but I had got further than you had- I made it to Sumeru and was I think AR54 when stopped in 2023 and I returned in August 2025. I decided to skip Fontaine and Natlan, and start with the current AQ so I felt I could be up to date and join in with the community! There’s some things that have been minorly spoiled for me but I don’t mind that. Since then I’ve finished all the Nod Krai AQ, and then gone back to do Fontaine and am slowly progressing though Natlan now :)

You are not missing out on new outfits. They are quest locked to the archon quest - ie permanent. If you care about the Neuvilette one, that is paid regardless, there's just a temporary sale right now and that has nothing to do with your progress.

As for the rest - maybe take a step back from the community for a week or so instead of letting it weigh on you. The hubub around the newest content will die down a bit again as people complete the quest. Remember this is a single player game that is not competitive. The only benchmark you need to measure yourself against is you. No one else.

Make sure to take the time to enjoy the game. The story will always be there waiting for you to get to it, and you will enjoy it so much more if you actually take the time to approach it in the way you want to and not on someone else's schedule.

Who are you trying to race, just enjoy the game. Unless you're playing for 30 minutes a day you will catch up.

It's not like you're playing Destiny 2, the epitome of FOMO, where half of the game just gets removed when new expansion gets released.

It's a permanent reward that you get for finishing the latest story quest, you're not missing anything.

Speaking as someone who only started a few months ago as well - it hasn't bothered me. I've been enjoying the story where I am now and know I'll catch up to community eventually so don't want to rush through it all. It's all about the journey, not the destination.

If you're still hesitant, you could just take a break away from the community like someone else suggested and/or wait until events that everyone (new and old players) will be playing and talking about like Lantern Rite.

I’ve been playing since day 1 and still have content not done. You can play this game at your own pace, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

That’s the great part of this game in my opinion, you can freely choose to do content whenever you wish.

Play at your own pace. Dont force yourself to rush or do thing you dont want to do right now. "Every journey has its end, so dont rush it" and enjoy the road. You arent missing out on anything, you will get there eventually and content like Quests or skins is permanent , you wont miss it. The only thing that is limited is extra primos you get for completing new Quest and new area exploration in the current version but its only like 5 wishes - not worth geting burned out by rushing content and you can pull new character and have fun with them no problem. And let me tell you, once you get to the point where your quest log is empty and you only see 100% on your map, You will miss the times when half of your map is blank and you wonder whats out there waiting for you. You will even miss yaping quest. Oh and dont delve too deep into forums so you dont spoil yourself.
