Genshin really up’d their story this patch I loved every part of it!! 10/10 Quest

I hope so considering that there's a good chance that this is my last if they decide to shatter natural progression by showing The Shades before we've even seen every Archon.
nix6092026-01-15 13:12
Hmm considering the glitching part at the very end of the quest, it does seem like they’ll focus more on the Shades and HP in the upcoming patches. We’re still in January and Nod Krai seems more or less done lmao. They did say they’ll release the next region at the usual pace.
Starkeeper_Reddit2026-01-15 15:22
Didn't we encounter Ronova at the end of the Natlan AQ though
blazikenfan552026-01-15 15:23
That doesn't count since that was more of an abstract design.
Cyphiris2026-01-15 17:23
It would be stupid if they didn't start to slowly introduce us to shades at this point of the story. Throwing in everything all at once about them after Shneznaya arc ends would feel forced and rushed as hell.
Ashlinidor2026-01-15 13:03
I hope they continue to produce high-quality work in Nod Krai. I liked everything so far, except for the Nefer story.
nix6092026-01-15 13:10
Oh yeah, right. The Nefer story insertion in the archon quest did take away the immersion a bit. All in all I’d still say Nod Krai has been amazing so far.
Gargooner2026-01-15 15:23
Tbh, that's like only like half part of these amazing 8 parters AQ.
It's been such a blast that a smidgen of hiccup is basically nothing.
nix6092026-01-15 15:35
Truee. I’m willing to overlook the bad parts a bit, only because the highs were so high. Specially this new quest. I felt like Genshin really improved on their story telling. Take the Moon Goddesses of the past for example. They were on screen for about 10 mins, yet they had a very strong impact on me. The visuals and music were amazing as usual.
Gargooner2026-01-15 18:52
it's 7 high with 1 medium, and that medium has a lot of highs
Rare_Marionberry7822026-01-15 13:45
The Nefer memory box was one of the key parts of the final plot too, I guess the duration of Nefer’s part in Luna II could be tweaked for some breaks too maybe. 🤔
Khoakuma2026-01-15 16:19
Nefer’s quest probably could have been her own character quest (whatever happened to those…). It’s good but merging it with the main quest of that patch stretch the thing out too long for most people’s attention span.
MNUUUUU2026-01-15 17:59
Nefer's story quest would be loved by all if it just informed you when it was saving like the recent archon quest
Khoakuma2026-01-15 18:40
Hoyo probably realized how badly they fked up Nefer’s quest in various ways and used those lessons to improve future quest. That includes Aino giving the Traveler her Ducky which allows them to apply hydro off field. Nefer was absolutely horrid to use during her quest because HMC is useless, which negatively affected her sales.
osgili4th2026-01-15 21:47
Exactly, I was having flashbacks to that quest fights with hydro mc as the only application of hydro, thank God they give you a free Sino burst to use.
kzzzzzzzzzz282026-01-16 00:24
Buffing Hydro Traveler by giving him another characters kit.
Elinim2026-01-15 18:19
I think if it was intercut with her and rerir both trying to wrestle control for the box, it would've made much more sense. Rerir just kind pops up out of nowhere at the end.
kzzzzzzzzzz282026-01-16 00:23
>(whatever happened to those…).
They're still there.
Durin got one recently. And now I assume more characters will have them separate from the AQ now.
hardy_832026-01-16 01:17
I'm curious about the power of that thing. It apparently can look into pelles minds, even if they are on a different plane or reality that one can't escape.
wathkat2026-01-15 14:49
For me, the Nefer story was fine. The placement was just unfortunate.
HorukaSan2026-01-15 19:28
I can see myself not enjoying it had I done it all in one sitting, I recall stopping right as her part started, when I logged back in, I was out of that instance and could just start it right where I left it.
Nothing hinted that you could leave at certain points and not lose progress, so I can see why people avoid quitting whenever.
Patient_Piece_80232026-01-16 09:01
Exactly. If they gave a break and allowed you to quit the game for a little while before coming back, it would have been so much better
PoPo5732026-01-15 23:16
I feel the Nefer story would have been seen as better if it wasn't wedged (messily) into the Archon quest. It just felt so out of place and halted the story that was currently being focused on.
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-15 15:11
I liked it too but I have some minor gripes with it but overall it was good.
Vegetto_ssj2026-01-15 16:35
Im curious, what?
Mine is that...Dottore acted a bit...stupidly? Waiting 2 days leaving them peacefully planning everything, without monitoring them enough and then be tricked "so easily"
FatBoi08152026-01-15 16:59
I liked it aswell but my gripe would be, that the transition from the Dottore fight to the Flagship was imo very awkward
Naki_Wintersun2026-01-15 17:22
Well they are constantly dealing with the problems that arise when you make the big bad guy powerful enough to easily take out every good guy at once and they have to come up with ways to stop him from just doing that. That's why Columbina has the ability to teleport everyone away during a confrontation with Rerir and for Dottore they went with the usual combination of "trying to get the main character to join his side because he's very special", monologuing instead of taking people out when he has the chance and playing with his victims and letting them work on their plan instead of stopping them.
Not dissing the story, I liked it overall but this is a pet peeve of mine. I would've preferred if they made Dottore rely more on outsmarting and evading the good guys instead of just being another big strong guy who can shoot lasers.
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-15 17:23
My nitpicks:
I wish we explored dottores lab more to show player how messed up his experiments are and how he treats people.
Aq was 90% dialogue which is fine but I wish there was more gameplay between cutscenes.
I also found Sandrones death to be a bit pointless it felt like she had to die because someone needed to die.
Also ending where everyone attacked Dottore felt a bit weird to me. After all friendship is power characters went in to attack one by one
PhantomXxZ2026-01-15 18:09
>I also found Sandrones death to be a bit pointless it felt like she had to die because someone needed to die.
Sandrone sacrificed herself because adding a Descender to the world formula is the only way they could succeed. She absolutely couldn't let the Traveller die there. Furthermore, her death is what caused Dottore to let his guard down, *as stated in the story.*
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-15 18:45
More so I thought they could have distracted dottore then let them kill her
PhantomXxZ2026-01-15 20:23
How so? Do you not realise how strong this guy was in that moment? I'd argue they got off lucky.
Why should the story just protect the characters instead of challenging them?
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-15 20:56
Yeah he was strong (Which is also weird how he struggled dealing with Lauma and Flins etc) fair there but he still has his ego they could have distracted him a bit longer by challenging his ideals etc.
Fair there idk to me her death felt forced I cannot say it brought down the enjoyment that much for me I still liked the archon quest ending was really good.
Sweaty_Molasses_38992026-01-15 17:32
I like to believe it was part ego and part curiosity, something that was stated a few times during the quest. He sees it as part of the "experiment".
My headcanon is that since he has one false moon, the majority of his powers only work within the expanding spheres hence why he is bidding his time. Otherwise why would that be there be a whole side plot about it.
My crazier theory is that he is trying to pull a Fontaine by faking his demise at the hand of the traveler. By "dying" at the hand of a Descender, he is fulfilling his fate as losing here. This is why he has given the traveler far too many chances when he could have killed them so much earlier.
Vegetto_ssj2026-01-15 18:34
>I like to believe it was part ego and part curiosity, something that was stated a few times during the quest. He sees it as part of the "experiment".
That is obvious, but from a super intelligent scientist that loves experiments, his curiosity should had push him to monitoring them 24h, analysing each their steps just for his scientist nature. And from a character like him, I expected to be not be foolished by Sandrone's "super" trick
2) and have at least 1-2 plans B and C (maybe the plan C is in another Quest *looking thr effect at the end of the AQ*)
theytookallusernames2026-01-15 17:32
Same. My biggest gripe is that they tried too hard in making Dottore the ultimate evil this patch but only this patch. They had the opportunity to pepper in more of his appearances and his plans throughout the entire eight acts, but didn’t.
Even Rerir’s crashout was ultimately caused by Dottore, and they could be more blatant just to set him up for Act VI and this patch than hinting “there’s a third harbinger in Nod-Krai winkwink” and then only showing him at the end of Act VI.
The AQ is still good, but I feel like this time around there’s just really that many opportunities to make it less awkward. They did not, unfortunately.
Vegetto_ssj2026-01-15 18:37
>Same. My biggest gripe is that they tried too hard in making Dottore the ultimate evil this patch but only this patch. They had the opportunity to pepper in more of his appearances and his plans throughout the entire eight acts, but didn’t.
Absolutely true! This is my main complain about Dottore, and my fear was that his moment was compressed only in one patch (and in fact...). My only hope is that this was just the part 2 of 3 (Sumeru, NK and boh) of Dottore giga arc.
Educational_Lion_9442026-01-15 19:08
My biggest issue is that for some reason they went "Infiltraiting Dottore's lab is very dangerous" and then proceeded to take an priestess and someone who prefers to work in the shadows. But decided to keep Varka in Nasha town. That broke my illusion the most since if Varka would be releasing this patch and not later I know for a fact he would have gone with
Fast-Ad-24152026-01-15 16:19
longest quest ever also .. I started yesterday with it at 22 o clock, and was first done with it basically at 4 in the night, i mean with all of it, because its literally both chapters just in 1 big go without breaks... that was freaking 5 hours of nonstop archon quest.
The quest warns about it, that you should start it, if you have time... but damn, even if you get warned, it would have been nice, if the warning basically would tell you HOW LONG it is in advance... would be done with just 1 extra line of information:
**When you start the quest, calculate in approximately 5 hours of time, until you finish the quest.**
Sure, the game saves your progress every now n then, but you never know when and where it happens and you can't manually save your progress.
However, the whole story segment and presentation was absolute peak.. it literally felt more like playing kind of an Anime Show/Episode, where everything was from begin to its end connected in its whole presentation.
When you have the time for it, its absolute entertaining, way more entertaining than getting constantly interrupted by the game due to the whole story telling being cut into many small quest snippets that force you constantly to move around from A to b to C back to B to A ect, instead of the whole transitioning of movements being actually done like this by cutscenes, which is in the end faster, than having to move your character constantly around the map, or having to use the time feature to wait x hours ect. when that can be just integrated into a cutscene
It all has its pros and cons and when its well made, I must say, I prefer the pros over the con, that you have to do the stuff in one big session.. but as said, a more detailed warning with an info of the duration of the quest would be nice and is kind of neccessary.
Vegetto_ssj2026-01-15 16:42
Agree 100%.
Fortunately since Fontain I adopted my way to play AQs: when I have atleast 2 free days, I preper myself to do a evening nap, amd wake up at 0:00-1, so I have the whole night with 100% energy to do atleast and Act without pauses due for the tiredness or sleep. This help alot also against the common tiring yapping segment from HSR quests.
Today I was able to do all the quest in a shot (no, I gave up before the part on the moon), but not be able to di the daily worried me a but)
nix6092026-01-15 16:49
I took breaks whenever my party would appear in between the scenes. They don’t explicitly state it anywhere but that’s basically a checkpoint. You can exit and reenter wherever you left. There’s a small rift like thingy that opens up in your world.
Naki_Wintersun2026-01-15 17:02
>Sure, the game saves your progress every now n then, but you never know when and where it happens and you cant manually save your progress..
I'm pretty sure the word "saving" during some loading screens is just a reminder and assurance to inform people that they can take a break any time. The game "saves" basically every time the scene changes and you can leave anytime, even alt f4 in the middle of dialogue without losing progress.
Chouginga802026-01-15 18:01
I'm at the start of Nod'krai, how many hours do you think is the full aq?
Fast-Ad-24152026-01-15 20:22
like said, I startet around like 22 o clock, closely to 23 o clock and was done around 4 o clock in the night.. so the whole deal from start to end, if you ready everything and dont rush through everythign thats beign say by clicking everythign instantly away, costs you approximately 5 hours, until you reach the end of the whole AQ of this patch , because the game constantly keeps switching between various scenarios of different characters, like flashbacks of Columbina, story segments of various different parties, that follow different tasks in order to trysaving Columbina and finding out, what might have happened to her, or if shes even still allive, confronts you then here n there naturally with combat segments.. dont want to writy now naturally everything to spoil not too much its basically a constantly ongoing cutscene, that is only opening up a few times where you can control characters, but 90% of it is basically just 1 big cutscene, which tells you the story and blends permanently over from 1 character, over to an other zo show you ,what XYZ were doing, while you were controlign for the moment AB, or watched, what 123 were doing together in the meantime, just to see them coming together and talk out, what they found out ect.
So at best start the quest only, for the best experience in one go, if you have that much time at your disposal, unless you want to make breaks naturally or have to make breaks and close the game, after seeing a Saving in a loading screan, to make sure, your progress until this point has been saved and you basically start at where you left the game next time
AceWissle2026-01-15 21:43
I felt that. I literally alt+f4'd at some point
Fotunately only lost a few minutes of playtime to this
Beidah2026-01-16 00:24
It's very long, and it's pretty much all just watching characters talk to each other. Occasionally, you get to walk 5 feet to trigger the next cutscene. Very little gameplay in this story quest.
delcanine2026-01-15 16:33
Best archon quest for me.
nix6092026-01-15 16:50
Verrrrry difficult for me to choose between this, Fontaine and Sumeru. xD
Naki_Wintersun2026-01-15 17:29
For me it's Sumeru (because time loops are my personal favorite story device and the finale made me bawl like no game ever did) > Fontaine (could've been number 1 if it weren't for the awful middle part in prison where almost nothing of consequence happened) > Nod Krai = Natlan.
But I pretty much like them all except for the middle 2/3 of Liyue, the first 1/2 of Inazuma and the middle 1/3 of Fontaine.
nix6092026-01-15 18:11
Ah fair list. Each region has its ups and downs. But you’re so right about the Prison in Fontaine 😭 I haven’t done any world quest from that part because I really hate that area so much.
I’d put Nod Krai over Natlan personally, mainly because I was more emotionally invested with Columbina’s story.
nix6092026-01-15 18:14
Also talking about time leaps, I really loved how Columbina was helping us from the very beginning ever since we entered Nod Krai. This might be one of my favorite schtick in any animanga. The part where something that happens in the present is because of something that you did in the future which you do not know yet.
Petter17892026-01-15 23:24
Good old reversal of cause and effect
Fast-Ad-24152026-01-16 10:19
good old Interstellar Moment :3
Naki_Wintersun2026-01-17 12:29
I'm pretty sure the vast majority of players will put Nod Krai over Natlan (even among those who did not hate Natlan) and my first instinct was to do the same.
But then I think back to the night wars and Mualani's mentor and Xilonen's story and Kachina winning the tournament and Chasca's sister and coming back from the night kingdom with Paimon flying into the travelers arms and the ode of resurrection reactivation avengers assemble moment with the awesome music and the ceremony at the end to honor the fallen and I can't do it ...
WKyurem2026-01-15 19:46
It is the same for me, except Nod Krai > Natlan.
TrumpLovesThemKids2026-01-15 21:23
Yep, this one blew the others out of the water IMO. Probably the best gacha game story patch I've played
MakiSaad22026-01-15 17:05
The last quest was 90% useless Yapping, but the last 10% was peak
nix6092026-01-15 22:28
It was NOT useless yapping bruh 😭
AceWissle2026-01-15 17:11
Is there a way we can return to the moon? After the quest?
XxTheLeoxX2026-01-15 18:22
I wanna know too if someone knows
AceWissle2026-01-15 21:41
People in Discord said no :(
Hope someone finds a way though. That area is too cool to be use once and that's it, hopefully
nix6092026-01-15 22:26
Nope sadly :(
Titanium702026-01-16 04:40
Kinda sad we left the ship up there, could as well take it and park it somewhere we can actually reach it! xD
kokko6932026-01-15 18:14
Genshin is a really pretty game.
The music also. Damn
nix6092026-01-15 19:17
Had my eyes bawling whenever the heavenly melody with the angelic voice came in during the quest
TrumpChildOnahole2026-01-15 18:46
Best hoyoverse patch to date. Up there with some of ffxivs best
blackpaws922026-01-15 20:06
This AQ felt like Avengers mashed up with Honkai Star Rail Amphoreus act
nix6092026-01-15 22:29
Haven’t played Amphoreus yet but I heard it’s amazing? When I played Penacony I thought it was great. Is the new one better than the last?
_thunderstrike_2026-01-15 22:40
i loved amphoreus particularly for the character arcs and relationships, the overall story is good altough it can be a little mind boggling, lots of people don't like amphoreus because there is a lot and i mean a LOT of dialogue tho, but yk to each their own
nix6092026-01-15 22:52
I don’t mind dialogue heavy quest as long as they keep me engaged! Loved every minute of Nicole’s screentime xD. Ahh right, having played the original Hi3rd I might like Amphoreus because of the characters!! I really wanna play Hsr again but my storage is crying 😭
Also I’ve been away for so long all my characters might be powercrept by now
H0nkH0nk012026-01-15 20:26
By the end of it I was tired and just told myself "please just let me beat him up so I can go to bed"
Arnimon2026-01-15 21:16
Glad you enjoyed it. Was hands down the best Archon Quest for me too. Usually I pace myself pretty nicely, but this one—I just couldn't stop.
DevinY12026-01-15 21:53
Yes! I was eating it up even though I was tired.
nix6092026-01-15 22:31
That moment when Hat Guy broke Dottore’s barrier and flew us away I was so excited!! Like that’S MY BOYYYY
Organic-Army-90462026-01-16 04:38
wanderer yet again carrying the traveler to safety
True_Air_66962026-01-16 03:56
damn I really need to start playing this game again
