My personal headcanon is something along the lines of Dottore attempting to ascend and realising that Irminsul is binding him down, thus the tree burning. Then a whole bunch of stuff happens before Scara has to become the new Irminsul and transcend his fate (his constellation is himself, something only reserved for Archons/Neuvillette/Traveller).
