I felt genuinely bad for them in this scene, but by the Archons, I couldn't take them seriously.

Yeah, it’s sad but, also very appropriate for a relationship that was ultimately built on lies and a great metaphor for a separated couple that still love each other but can’t get past the things that they’ve said or done.
