Why no lunar freeze?

Anyone else find it strange there’s no lunar freeze reaction? It would have been a great way to revitalize freeze as an archetype even if it didn’t have the actual cc (since most threatening enemies are immune these days anyways). There’s so many ways you could go about it, and it would be a good segue-way into the cryo focus in snezchnaya. I also have always associated the moon with water and/or ice since that’s usually what it’s associated with in a lot of different media, with one of the moons of teyvat literally being the FROSTmoon.

I wouldn’t say you’re wrong, escoffier provides a big boost for freeze teams but it’s less of that freeze was revitalized and more of skirk and escoffier do a lot of damage by virtue of having cryo and hydro specifically but they don’t have a whole of interaction with the actual reaction itself. Lunar freeze damage would be more reaction damage based, similar to how lunar crystallize takes a reaction that doesn’t provide much if any of an offensive boost and makes actual damage from it.

Freeze with Escoffier is already good enough to not need a lunar reaction.

Lunar reactions have been a balance thing. The goal is to give a second life to reactions so underwhelming they weren't worth using. Vape and Freeze aren't in this scenario, but Electrocharged and Crystalize were, and Bloom was mainly lacking a main-dps archetype (it was either Quickbloom Alhaitham or quick-swap hyper/bloom where everything relies on reactions and not a main DPS).

The only true candidate left is Lunar Swirl but Swirl is a weird reaction and Anemo is a weird element, so I wouldn't hope for it too much. Varka releases next patch and he's not Lunar, so there goes the best opportunity to make a Lunar Swirl.

It would give the opportunity to make something much more interesting for freeze. Outside of escoffier and skirk freeze is still basically still dead, because they don’t really do anything active with the reaction, the two just get boosted significantly by virtue of having hydro and cryo on the team, and this stems from freeze as a reaction being practically useless on anything but mobs. Lunar freeze would be a way to give freeze a chance to actually do damage as a reaction similar to lunar crystallize, and open up more possibilities for freeze outside of skirk-escoffier shenanigans

Freeze doesn't do damage and the only reaction Freeze can offer is melt. We're not getting Lunar for Amplifying Reactions like Melt/Vape or even Freeze, all the Lunar Reactions are transformative not amplifying.

Exactly so why can’t they make lunar freeze do damage? Lunar crystallize is completely different than regular crystallize, why can’t it be the same for freeze?

Every lunar reaction is balanced around Columbina and the other carries. A Skirk team with a lunar freeze buff would be insane. Same with a Mavuika team with a lunar buff. They picked these three elements for lunar reactions for a reason.

I mean skirk is going to probably get indirectly buffed regardless somehow I can imagine with the cryo region and the tsaritsa up next. I get why they made the lunar reactions from the weaker reactions, but freeze as a reaction outside of escoffier-skirk is not good.

No they need to buff superconduct the most. Lunar (in my opinion) will be a completed set of reactions by the end of this patch. I think Skirk/Escoffier will remain the central duo of Freeze for the time being.
