Genshin scaling (not meta)

Am I the only one having trouble understanding object sizes in genshin? Like how big is the firmament(false sky)? During skirks trailer wasn't it just over the planets atmosphere now with 6.3 the frost moon is inside it Columbina said so during the talk between her and the traveler while siting on the spaceship. Is the moon just tiny but here by the end of the quest it's like insanely far away that you can see the entire planet. Help me make sense of it.

I'm not exactly a leading expert on orbital mechanics, but I'm not quite sure how the moon can go from outside-the-firmament distance to inside-the-firmament distance and maintain the same speed relative to the ground on Teyvat. Not without it crashing into the planet because it's suddenly much closer.

Also, when the amazing cutscene happened and it crashed through the firmament, the firmament certainly looked pretty close.

So it's more likely that the firmament grew much larger now to accommodate the moon within it. But that makes no sense either.

Just incase your interested I've been scrolling through other subs and found a similar post on hoyoverse_scaling from 8 hours ago. I'm having trouble linking it since I'm on mobile. They're pretty much on the same boat every about the size of the firmament doesn't make sense.

If it IS a small object, then it was likely quite close to Teyvat in order to appear moon-sized in the sky. In such a case, moving it from outside the Firmament to inside wouldn't actually be that big a change.

Additionally, as a constructed object, orbital mechanics might not apply. It might have some kind of drive system allowing it to move around in an orbit-like fashion, rather than actually obeying orbital mechanics.

All good points. And you're absolutely right, I'd been assuming it was Luna-sized when actually there's nothing to confirm that and the curvature from the surface implies it's quite a lot smaller.
