Nicole Identity Misconceptions
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and a video about the Nicole × Varka ship, mostly arguing that it’s a doomed ship because Nicole would turn into a Seelie if she fell in love with a human, since it’s forbidden by the Heavenly Principles.
What bothers me is that almost no one mentions Skirk’s voiceline about Nicole. People just assume she’s an angel who would turn into a Seelie if she fell in love with a human. I’m not really blaming them for missing it, but even some big lore content creators either didn’t mention this specific line from Skirk or brushed past the part about Nicole “becoming human.”
The issue I have with this is that if Nicole became human while retaining her powers, then the curse and her connection to the Heavenly Principles should have been severed. That would mean she’s no longer bound by the same rules or duties, unlike beings such as the Lord of the Night.
Because of that, her falling in love should be possible. If she’s human, there’s no clear reason for her to turn into a Seelie anymore. So either people are joking, don’t know about, or don’t remember this specific line about Nicole. i just wanted to clear this out
Nicole is a human that still retains her power as an angel not that she is an angel that will turn into a seelie if she ever fall in love though in her case is mostly likely a choice rather than bound by a rule.

It isn't. Not because she is human, but because she is a playable character and so is Varka.
(Talking about playable character x non-MC) It has happened in games before. It has happened in gacha games before. It has happened in Chinese gacha games before. Heck, it has happened in miHoYo's games before.
It just hasn't happened in Genshin before.
If Alice becomes playable, she will be the first playable character with a confirmed partner in Genshin. But whether it's Alice or not, the writers can always decide someone's the first to be something.
I'm not *expecting* it any time soon, but people are way too quick to write it off as impossible based purely on a rule that doesn't exist.
I agree on this on a lot of cases, but Hoyo is notoriously walking on eggshells when it comes to catering to (and trying to not alienate) certain "audiences". Creating any character (except Alice who was telegraphed to be Klee's mother from the beginning) that has a romantic interest in a non-traveler character retroactively revives the possibility of all the previous characters having the same thing.
They also have been relying very heavily in romantic suggestions and sex appeal whether through dialogue or imagery to boost their sales. I don't see how they go 180 on that for any future character.
She's probably more tangled in the rules now than she ever was before becoming a human.
Lines from the Flower of Paradise Lost artifact set:
>"Nevertheless, hide my lesson in your heart. Remember the punishment that once was inflicted on the fallen envoys of heaven."
>
>"We then suffered the torment of exile. Stripped was our connection to heaven, to our powers of enlightenment..."
>
>"Since the disaster, I have long been cursed to never again look upon the heavens. It is my fortune that I have been able to maintain myself till now..."
The angels' connection to Celestia was already severed, but the curse is active.
Wolfy's story about the Boar Tribe came first I'm assuming. Depending on what the angels offered up on the scale, their punishments varied. But the curse is a separate thing.
It was explained when Nicole was introduced that she was able to retain her power unlike the Lord of the Night because the former does not have a long-term duty to fulfill. The Lord of the Night has to maintain the Night Kingdom, which consumes more power. Nicole is idle, so she can use her power in any way that she wants.
Even though she "became a human," she is still an angel and also identifies as one. One of her titles is "The Silent Angel."
So if she fulfills the conditions of the curse, she could become a Seelie.
EDIT: Added and changed some of the reasoning.
