The problem with tier lists is context. Just look at Columbina, top of the tier list, and yet without another Nod Krai unit she's underwhelming. Iansan, amazing but only works with like 1/4 of the available units. ***Noelle*** SS tier DPS, requiring both Furina and Columbina to be there.
And the other side of the coin is the over-reliance of the meta. If you don't care about endgame too much, tier lists are irrelevant, because literally anyone works well enough for exploration and story. The only time you'd want a tier list is endgame, and if you're serious about endgame, you should know more about the game to where tierlists are unnecessary.
In summary, the result is all the casual players who want to do endgame, look at tier lists, pull 'SS tier units' and ram their heads against a wall. When they can't beat endgame, it's always 'too much shill', 'whales only' etc. And while I can't deny there isn't an element of that, it's much more an issue of gameplay knowledge, practice, and time grinding for builds.

Columbina by herself is not great, but throw in ineffa or lauma? Top tier duos.
Escoffier is very niche, but she carries that niche on her back and makes it viable.
The problem with tier lists is most people use it as a “at a glance” style ranking without acknowledging the nuances. Then they get mad because they think it’s “wrong”, even though it’s entirely subjective anyway.

Let's take this exact Tier List for example.
Bennett at C1 is SS as a Support. Let's say I want to play one of the Top 3 Teams in the game. Flins, Nefer, or Zibai. Which one of them wants Bennett? According to this list, he should be *extremely* valuable, right?
Maybe it's just a Nod Krai thing, though. Who else is running this patch? How about Neuvillette? Let's put Bennett on that Team...
