Now you just need to defuse several bomb threats and take one of the bombs to go. You're almost there, Il Dottore's in sight, it's time to face your foe. No time to spare, so finish the fight and watch his -inator blow!

Isn't that part of the aq? Also don't worry, no other parts of the desert quests are as dark and eerie as that (unless you're afraid of sand and wide open spaces or massive underground tunnel networks lol) but there are some rather grusome things out there if you use a little imagination

Yeah, it seemed pretty obvious to me that it was a Fallout homage.
Not only in that it's an underground apocalypse shelter, but also in using that yellow monochrome CRT motif for the UI, and multiple references in the script.
Heck, there was a point where they specifically alluded to three of the actual Vault experiments from Fallout lore, including the faulty water system from Fallout 1. It was not particularly subtle.
There were also a few parts where the abyssal corruption reminded me of the Strain-infested Eldan labs in Wildstar. It's the purple, I think.
