My guess is that her frame is from a civilization long gone.
Hyperborea comes to mind but I'm not well verse in deep lore. Have visions already existed and available to the Hyperborean people? I at least know that Hyperborean civilization is pre-archon war but post dragon civilization era.

If i didn't misunderstood, she is here since the moons, but i don't remember the line exactly. I think it was at hex house guest, because I don't remember traveler talking with her during the aq. I definitely can't remember.

End of main quest with Columbia taking us on a walk
IVKILL2026-01-16 04:31
This thx
PandiTati2026-01-16 12:16
Visions did not exist in Hyperborea. But Moonwheels did, yet the one Nicole has isn't a moon wheel
External-Ad-55372026-01-16 07:26
Does she even need vision? Cuz I feel like she is just using it as decoration.
CheeseCakez11912026-01-16 07:35
she definitely does not but maybe it helps her saving on some heating bills during the winter idk
External-Ad-55372026-01-16 07:48
And thinking abt it again. Isnt she oldest or at least one of the oldest chars/npc we ever saw?
If I understood story correctly she should be significantly older even compared to gnosis.
We_Are_Bread2026-01-16 08:40
Yes. She personally knows the Moon sisters (it is mentioned by Columbina that she was alive when they were also alive) so this is extremely old.
Cheese_Grater1012026-01-17 04:39
so she's a walking oil barrel
Aware_Travel_58702026-01-17 19:37
It's either her or Zibai - we'll have to see when Zibai comes out how old she really is. And ZL remains the sleeper option.
LiDragonLo2026-01-18 20:06
Zl is definitely younger than nicole, and if zibai is an actual adeptus, its likely she is younger than nicole

Might be a Venti situation where they wear a fake one to avoid explaining their elemental power.
Tornado76X2026-01-16 11:26
Maybe, but I feel like Nicole doesn't really interact with others directly? Usually she just sends her voice into someone's head from a distance
DeagleTC2026-01-16 12:12
the adepti (xianyun, ganyu, xiao) have real visions except zhongli so having the ability to wield elemental power doesnt remove you from getting a vision
Neospartan_1172026-01-16 23:23
I don't remember if it was Xiao or Ganyu, but one of them says that gaining a Vision grants them finer control of their elemental abilities or something in that regard. I'm leaning Xiao but I'm not sure.
Meepatmeep2026-01-16 17:52
Venti did say he could hook us up with a fake vision so he probably just did that for Nicole.
notolo6322026-01-16 12:30
I think she can do general magic, but not sure if she can actually wield elemental powers without a vision
Electronic_Team39392026-01-16 08:49
Wasnt this the same casing as last time and the same that Alice uses?
CristevePeachFan2026-01-16 11:12
Alice just has a Mondstadt vision
Electronic_Team39392026-01-16 11:17
Just noticed, ty
No_Concept_13112026-01-16 09:54
Pyro? Is her ultimate yapping so much your brains catch on fire?
Humanoid_Horse2026-01-16 10:25
Yeah just like in Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull where the Cate Blanchett character bursts into flames from gaining too much knowledge from the aliens at the end
ElysiumReal2026-01-16 14:19
Is seriously noone realising that she could have gotten this vision at any point in time? And that it could just be from an unreleased region like Khaenri'ah for example?
Neutral_Memer2026-01-16 15:31
I doubt it would be a Khaenri'ahn casing, since if there is one thing known about that place beyond the fact that they got glassed 500 years ago, it's the fact that they despised the Celestia affiliated gods; Moonwheels I could to an extent see happening during the Crimson Moon Dynasty, despite the fact that the moon in question was by then corrupted by Abyss and unlikely to grant Moonwheels, but "modern" Visions, especially after Eclipse took over, would most likely be seen as an affront to everything Khaenri'ah stood for.
It also doesn't really have anything from the known Khaenri'ah imagery in it, or visual cues associated with the nation.
\- Mondstadt Visions, for example, are styled with 'wings", which in turn are associated with freedom due to birds and such.
\- Liyue Visions are square, because Morax and his powers are cubic, and cubes themselves can be used to symbolize order (something something Zhongli's burst line that we memed to hell and back at this point).
\- Inazuma's Visions are styled with the Raijin Drums just like Raiden's Statue of the Seven (and her circle from her skill) - Raijin is a Japanese thunder god, I think you get my point.
The two consistently used symbols of Khaenri'ah are either the four pointed Primogem-like star, seen in their eyes and on Albedo's neck, or an eight pointed star that sometimes has one point elongated (look at Capitano's helmet or the Black Serpent Knights as an example), and neither of these two seems to be present in Nicole's casing.
ElysiumReal2026-01-16 15:32
it was an example, I wasn't being serious about it.
SarukyDraico2026-01-16 17:31
Lmao it was seen since the trailer of previous patch
