I fucking love Paimon, especially after these last quests
Seeing her get so sad when the traveler was in danger really gave her character a little more depth than just being a silly companion and I loved it

They've done a great job of selling why the Traveler and Paimon have such a deep bond and that they really do care for one another. Paimon isn't annoying anymore, at least, if she is, it's in the same way my little brother is annoying. I'd still lay down in traffic for them.

I have always liked Paimon. I just infinitely prefer her older EN voice. I know the person was a shit in the end, but I really enjoyed the voice.
I can't stand the new one, and it feels bad that I want to skip her dialog now to avoid hearing it. It's getting, I will say, less bad as patches go on, but I still hate it. It's still too "Mickey Mouse." Frankly, Noelle had the same problem...

I liked the new voice, it is less pitched, old va's highs were used to make ears bleed, and paimon used to have much more voicelines compared to nod-krai.

I remember when we went through YEARS of paimon hate on this sub. Its always been a social media problem.

Slowly over time Paimon can finally get the recognition on THIS subreddit that she deserves, considering that most people who play this game have zero issues with her since the begining.
It always starts with one person ranting about some tiny thing that then people dogpile on and suddenly its a big deal (when theres far bigger issues) because they have people shouting from the rooftops whereever they go on the internet creating this big idea that "Paimon suxxxx"
Its just like people said in the 90s. The internet will eventually become a tool to spread bullshit.

As someone that started only a few months ago and going through the story up to now, I'm still not completely sure how to feel about her. Like I feel like there was way more times she annoyed me than made me happy to see her. With just how awful she can be to other characters, giving them sometimes really annoying nicknames, her constantly talking about food and freeloading off you, and basically her being the least helpful guide I've seen in video games.
On the other hand the moments where she actually shows concern and care for you, sometimes not even running in certain events that she could have, and when she is actually using her head to not just talk about food she can actually be helpful, feels good to see. I think the voice change as well has helped better with me to connect to her instead of having a squeaky toy in my ear after Natlan.
I guess I'd say I don't love or hate her, more like just tolerate her for now. With how she was in this patch, if they keep going with this, I'll probably warm up to her more.

I'll be honest, when I first started the game, I kinda expected to hate Paimon -- she's just designed like the sorts of characters I can't stand in a lot of anime and video games.
And then the 'emergency food' jokes began, and you actually got dialogue options to tease her and mess with her head. For me, the realization that you don't *have* to take her too seriously changed everything. And that gave her time to legitimately grow on me, especially as she grows as a character.

The writers seem to get a grip on what kind of role she should fill now and made her better, and really liked how Paimon was presented in recent stories.

It’s so true though. I’ve always had a soft spot for Paimon, even with the old VA, but it’s like night and day now. I came back to the game recently after taking all of Natlan off, so I’m still finishing up an odd story quest or whatever here and there where her old voice pops up, and it’s just so jarring now.
Even my partner noticed the difference the first time he heard it, and he doesn’t tend to watch me play for large swaths of time. He literally asked me one day after I started playing again why Paimon wasn’t annoying him anymore 😅😅😅

I understand that Paimon speaks instead of the main character to save on voice acting. That's why I like how it's implemented in Honkai:SR. Different train passengers descend to different planets. So, even though they speak instead of the main character in dialogue, since they're different, it's not as noticeable.

I feel like Paimon was a bit more annoying before Inazuma where she was more of an exposition dump machine.
She still is one, but it's less obvious to me after Sumeru, I felt like her personality is a bit stronger as a goofy sidekick.

Painon has always been putting her life on the line for the traveler. She doesn't always make the biggest impact but her actions speak louder than her words. And she's already pretty loud.
After crashing through the floor in the childe bossfight, she stands between a harbinger and the traveler.
Trying to lift the traveler out of a sand-current pulling them down. And she doesn't let go.
She doesn't leave our side against Raiden, sword in her hand.
