I think the events from the archon quest and messing with the firmament and breaking it in such big scale with the moon most likely caused the simulation to malfunction and the same Act VIII Quest Completed message may have been a hint of that.

What could this lead to?

Yes, the first one is the normal one (the one on the left), and then another one later on shows up, but the second one glitches showing some kind of error

There's some teyvat script thay flashes during this but I'm not sure if it's been translated yet.

No the one that made the deal with Nahida was a segment. And Nahida made him destroy all the segments. I doubt the real Dottore could be destroyed the same way...

So after Sumeru, we had 2 Dottores running around. One is the "most selfish" one. And the other is the real Dottore who is not a segment.

I don’t think the “original” Dottore exists anymore though. If the segments are clones of him at different stages of his life, and there were segments that were old (back when Dottore wipes his segments, you can hear some with more elderly voices), we can only assume the “real” Dottore is really freaking old or has long since passed away from old age, leaving behind his segments, which are all equally him.

Could be, I suppose at this point we just can’t know for certain. I have a bit of a theory though. Spoilers for the Durin story quest but when Alice asks Anya if she’s asking her to prolong her life with magic, Anya refuses and says that it is a fundamental rule of this world that everyone has their fate, and to try to circumvent it or prolong it or avoid it would be to break that fundamental rule. I think the original Dottore realized death would come even for him, and he could not try to make himself immortal or reverse his aging. Instead, he opted to create his segments. Technically, his segments are “snapshots” of what he was like at different ages, and as such, they do not age. They aren’t “normal” clones. Knowing however that that also meant they wouldn’t evolve or change over time, he created multiple from different stages of his life to keep all those different points of view alive, and since these segments do not age, he ensured that “Dottore” would continue to exist indefinitely even after he passed.

I headcanon original Dottore as some really old grumpy old man who just locked himself in some basement far far away from everyone and everything and refuses to die and keep his life somehow (technology, some magical liquids etc). Now imagine original Dottore showing on as NPC in some quest, but it's just reskin of common grandpa npc.

Now original can still be dead though. We have no idea for now, but I bet both would be interesting enough. I'm gonna imagine his "dead" form like a brain in a jar.

The HP is in a fucking Coma. The 4 shades pretty much alluded to it. Columbina alluded to it. Still, I don't mind they making the story very very long and connect anything relevant . Because in the past, There's so many unfinished story, and they had to just change map . Like in Monstadt , they mentioned about Dragonspine's history and leave it untouched for so long . Don't forget Mare Jivari \~

Liyue , Guizhong full story isn't told and we're heading to Inazuma .

Inazuma , All Yokai lore wasn't fully explained and revealed and we're heading to Sumeru .

Sumeru, The Desert chaptere about King Deshret and Aaru was mentioned so often but not fully foretold . Only after Nefer exist, they start telling Very little about the surviving god in Aaru ( Not Aaru village , but a place Called Aaru ) .

Fontaine , about Allain Gullotin , Mary Ann , Neuvillette ( Who resurrect him ) , Remurian and etc .. All of it wasn't told , but only bits and pieces and we're headed to Natlan .

Natlan mostly cover many related stories , and starting from here, they learned how to make the plot thicker . Which my interests towards the lore started to go deeper .

the other appears on teyvat, and this make me think that maybe the whole place is in a similar situation to what dottore did with his bubbles with experiments
