When are the break points in the new archon quest?

When can I take a break

there are points in the quest where it automatically saves for you. you can do it after those checkpoints to leave the game or you can finish act 7 and take a break before doing act 8.

There are reasonable save points every I think 20-30 minutes where you can exit the game and take a break without losing progress (you will see a book in the bottom right corner which means that your progress is being saved), but you won't be able to interrupt the quest to do stuff like dailies or farm domains until like 5-6 hours into the quest.

I’ve been using each segment where you get control of a character as stopping points. It’s picked back up from the same spot each time.

Every time you hear the teleportation sound or see the black screen with “Saving“ in the lower right corner.

unlike previous AQs, there are actually plenty of break points because almost all of it takes place inside a domain. When you have control, you can exit the domain and return to your world. When you go back you may have to replay some scenes though. The game tells you when it saves progress.
