Well the current explorable map is only half of the planet. The two bright spots in the night side you see are Liyue harbor and Mondstadt city and the far West is Sumeru desert and Fontaine is North of that. 4 countries only cover 1 quarter while Natlan and Nodkrai should only cover another quarter.

The other half of the planet we do not have any idea what it is.

Also this shows that Teyvat should have time zones.

the playable world is definitely scaled down for convenience's sake and to save on storage space requirements; if it was true to life, it would take hours to get around everywhere, and the game would probably be double the size it already is.

The only nation that would need a standard time is Fontaine, as the aqua bus lines are the only thing really anything like trains, and thus Fountain would be Teyvat's gmt, and no where else has likely adopted the idea of time zones yet because of a lack of need due to the lack of trains or other sufficiently fast mass travel.

We do know that the areas outside of the continent are called "The Dark Sea" and no one knows what's in there. So there's basically no reason to have a separate name for the world and the continent since the continent is all that is known. It's like asking a caveman what's the name of the galaxy

I mean the biggest thing that implied that Teyvat was only the name of a continent is the adventurer's feather tail's artifact description which says

>The feather of an exotic bird rarely seen on this continent.

We also know that Teyvat is the only part of the planet that is under the rule of the 7. The other parts that is not Teyvat is what is known as the dark sea. But since they use the name Teyvat for both the continent of the 7 nations & the planet itself, it just means it's the name of the continent and the planet.

Now I did argue quite a bit in the past that we dunno what the name of the planet is and that Teyvat only referred to the continent but new (and old) info says otherwise

I feel like that was very obvious the moment Natlan suddenly pivoted to heavily Alien Stuff with Nibelung going to outer space after Seutervoinen visited him, Traveler Twins getting their homeworld nuked so they escaped, Surtalogi also exploring space, Skirk also coming from Space. Pretty much saying that Teyvat Storyline is this planet and then the next Chapters would be other planets.

There was a theory before that Teyvat was a flat world and inverted. Teyvat was presumed to be a floating continent for a long time and its only with this quest that we actually got confirmation that it is indeed an planet

As a hard-core lore reader who knew about the dark sea since 1.x, I wasn't surprised. The land of the seven would imply that there are continents towns which defeated gods fled. Heck orobashi fled from liyue to enkanomiya and remus fled from great red deserts to remuria, it's not surprising that other pakces exist

I remember back in the days when I first saw the Moon IN FRONT OF Celestia PNG. Oooh, I was so hyped and thought I found out something super secret, like crumbs for the fake sky, and how Celestia is involved!..

I reported is as a bug in hopes to get response "huhu, it's not a bug!" and even kinda got one (too old to take a screenshot tho, almost all reports older than one year are missing already)!

... And it was patched later. Yeeeeeah...

It was a bug though. It was fixed in-game way before the current arc, probably at the moment they replaced Celestia png by a 3d model. The false moon was always intented to be behind celestia, they represented it that way many times in promotial materials. I think it wasn't even just celestia, I remember having seen the moon in front of clouds, which makes even less sense than in front of celestia.

However, what was probably intented is that the fake moon looked just like ours, which should have been a hint, because it couldn't have been ours.

Absolutely. Nod Krai archon quest is my favorite in the game so far. Unlike the other archon quest of other nations, Nod Krai rather feels like a continuation. We've been collecting bits and pieces in the span of 5 years and only now that we're assembling them together.

It doesn't, actually. That entire premise from the beginning of the game with siblings traveling together got pretty much retconed. All of a sudden everything we believed to be true is wrong, from them apparently using a spaceship, to the chronology of the whole thing and HP parking that spaceship on the moon. Absolutely nothing of it relies on the lore we were familiar with, Hoyo dumped it all on us just recently and out of nowhere.

Still enjoyed the moon scene though, very pretty.

Not a 1.0 player but I’ve been playing since Inazuma. It feels so absolutely surreal to see the point where we are in the story right now. Snezhnaya, a region we’ve been hearing of since literally the first ever quest we do, is only a few months away. And to literally see the continent (planet) you’ve been on for so long, from far far away, I loved every bit of this. I wish it could be a permanent place, so that I can keep visiting it, and just stare at Teyvat for a while and forget about everything.

It is from a quest, but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was. I only remember because I happen to enjoy powerscaling (~~you can boo me, I don't mind~~) and that scan has been running around for years now. Like, 2021 or so

As for the in-game distance, it isn't anything weird in open world games. If it truly was up to scale, you would end up with a lot of empty space that would only eat up memory and processing power, so the distances are shortened to sidestep that issue. Teyvat being far larger than shown is normal in game developing

That's because Teyvat is the name of the continent. The people of Teyvat simply call the world Teyvat too because it's all they've ever known. The places beyond their continent appear as endless ocean, called the Dark Sea, and apparently it's where most of the gods who survived but lost the Archon War now reside, meaning it's too dangerous to even go there. Osial and fam came from there, and iirc the Golden Apple Archipelago along with Inazuma is right on the edge of it
