I thought the brown/leather outfit was fitting since it made him look like an actual adventurer; on the other hand, Lumine's white/blue silky (?) outfit made her look like a princess, which fits her image as the "princess of the abyss," and the inteyvat flowers on her head show her direct connection to Khaenri'ah.

They do, Klee, Fischl, Kirara and diluc are the outliers. Ganyu and shenhe’s are black, but Ganyu has blue hair so it FEELS blue but that’s not really avoidable.

I just love how both twins work extremely well as different takes on the Abyss-Twin's status of some sort of "tragic hero", as well as the traveler-twin.
Lumine as the Abyss Twin comes off as someone who completely closed off her heart after the fall of Kaenriah, and having let the hopes everyone placed on her down, coming off as more vengeful.
Aether as the Abyss Twin works as a tragic hero who knows he's taken a wrong turn, but doesn't know any other way to reach his goal. There's still some natural heroism shining through in the way his dialogue is conveyed, and constant sorrow over having "failed" as the foretold hero Kaenriah proclaimed him as.
Aether as the Traveler works as the (barely) older sibling looking out for his sister, and trying to understand and prevent where she had taken a completely different turn to become the almost ruthless leader of the Abyss Order.
Lumine as the Traveler comes off more as someone who seeks out her brother more because of how much she genuinely misses their bond and time spent together.

Even though i love lumine's new skin by itself, it's much daintier than aether's version so it looks weird as a pair. A lot of its details are still somewhat the same tho, so they don't really have any interesting contrast either. The blue outfits have good contrast for a male/female version while giving off the same vibe. Anyways, this just makes me glad my traveller is aether because the blue set totally gives off royalty while the brown gives off normal adventurer.

Aether had a pretty iconic look so losing the braid and giving him Albedo Formal was a downgrade. It's not TERRIBLE. I'll wear it a bit. But Lumine's over here with a straight upgrade. I kind of wish they had the same design goal for both of them, if Lumine also had a completely different outfit I wouldn't be wishing for white and blue Aether with a cleaned up model. While if we DID get that, then great.

Lumine's original outfit is still the best if you ask me. It's the only one where every elemental lights color goes perfectly with it. This is likely due to it limiting colors completely to trim, with the primary color of every piece being white resulting in a cleaner neutral look that fits this shifting prismatic nature of the twins' powers. It's the least busy of the outfits accessory-wise and looks the most like an adventurer's outfit rather than some dressy fashion statement, while still having its own unique just-slightly-alien style that makes Lumine stand out from the clothing of other characters in Teyvat. Also more boobs. John Hoyo really said take away this girl's ventilation smh. Finally we have the lore significance of the real inteyvats in her hair while in the new outfits they are more like stylized replicas or badges/pins. I know many of you redditors are gay which is totally cool but if you want a brief window into the heterosexual mind the combination of having both boobs AND lore makes something essentially undefeatable.
If I'm gonna rank em I'd go OG Lumine > New Aether > New Lumine > OG Aether

So I guess for me they rank like this:
